Four billboards along Interstate 30 are sparking a debate over whether gays should be welcomed at local churches. A coalition of five churches that are part of a larger congregation of prodominatly gay Christians have put up four billboards on I-30 between Grand Prairie and Fort Worth with messages urging Christians to accept gays. One billboard reads "The early church welcomed a gay man" and another reads, "Would Jesus discriminate."

Reverend Colleen Darraugh with the Metropolitan Community Church of Greater Dallas tells CBS-11 exclusively they've been the target of controversy since the billboards went up last week.

"There are people who have told us to re-read our bible, which is the very question we're asking others to do. We've had people say how dare you take the name of God in vein," Darraugh said. The billboards will be up through the end of the month.

First it was "we want to be left alone"; now it's "we want to overcome and infect your church."

Yeah, this is really going to go over big with Texans. The homo-fascists really need to get a better PR firm.

Please forgive me, but I choose to get my information on such matters from the Bible, not a billboard.

Would Jesus discriminate? No, but he cannot have a relationship with an imperfect person, God demands perfection and that includes being sexually pure.

"We've had people say how dare you take the name of God in vein,"

How dare they misspell "vain"?

Leviticus 20:13 - If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

I wonder how these openly-gay “Christian” churches deal with Leviticus, and more importantly, with some of Paul’s letters. Are they, like some Catholics, “cafeteria Christians”? How does one, as pastor, teach that the Bible is the One Truth (except for the parts we don’t agree with)?

The Pope was granted the line item veto in Vatican II.

First it was “we want to be left alone”; now it’s “we want to overcome and infect your church.”

I would add that the homosexual crowd desires APPROVAL from the church for their sexual behavior.

Remember, though, that Leviticus ostensibly itemizes laws that applied exclusively to the Jews. Instead, look to the books of Corinthians and Timothy for New Testament exclusions of those who practice homosexuality.

All “liberal Christians” must deny the inerrancy and divine inspiration of the Bible,
and declare any statement based on its authority as “interpretation”.

Lastly, when you show them the multiple instances of plainly worded (not subject to “interpretation”) verses refuting their ideology or position on an issue,

they say something like “oh, that was just written by angry men trying to oppress people”.

"Would Jesus discriminate."

No, but he would tell then to stop all sexual activity, sell all they had and follow him.

That’s the whole issue there - “PRACTICING homosexual”.

There is no condemnation for BEING homosexual or having such desires. The sin is in the commission of an act.

Why should they bother? They threw Genesis in the trash years ago.

OK, I give up. Who was the “gay man” that “the early church welcomed”?

Jesus would tell them to go and sin no more....they just don’t want to hear it.

Homosexuals should be welcome in any church, but not homosexuality. Just like liars, thieves and murderers are welcome but not lies, thievery nor murder. Sinners are always welcome. Sins, not so much.

When it comes to church, these gays should go, and sin no more.

Romans is much more to the point:

Romans 1:

18The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.

21For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.

24Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.

26Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. 27In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.

28Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. 29They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.

No need to cite just the Old Testament.
