Radical times call for radical ideas.

Glenn has flushed out more on ‘our’ enemy than any other and the first call of warfare is know your enemy.

We could take Washington by force, but that would prove NOTHING. If there is to be force, they MUST fire the first shot.

I cannot stress this enough!!!!!

There is NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE DEMS AND THE REPUBS!!!

Don't you get it? The whole system is the enemy, not just one segment. If we can find a few solid people (America FIRST) and make a stand, people will follow.

Beck said yesterday that America is a land of ideas. Look what happened when the idea of tea parties got around. Look what happened yesterday when the idea of a march on Washington got out.

Have you any idea what would happen if the idea of a corruption free Washington got out. DO you really believe that “we the people cannot make it happen?”

I must tell yo uthat Glenn has it together way more than most others. He wants Liberty for all, so do I

I have no evidence whatsoever for this but I will make the supposition public anyway: I think that the psychiatrist, whose name escapes me, whom Beck prominently features on his program from time to time is probably treating Glenn Beck or in some sort of mentoring program with him.

I too get nervous when I hear Beck say that he has the answer and this quarantine business gets perilously close to a megalomania. On the other hand, I suspect that as long as Beck has a serious challenge he will be able to keep it together. It is when he sees himself on top that he is most vulnerable.

But I would like to emphasize that so far his analysis of the state of our union has been sound and, as you say, his bipolar personality can supply the drive and even the genius which other more "normal" observers lack.

>>I part with Beck because he engages in moral relativism when it comes to equating Republicans and their declensions with the truly dangerous threat presented by Democrats.

I think he’s trying to atttract conservative Democrats to his movement as well as the Conservative Republicans by saying that there is corruption in both parties—because there is. He isn’t saying that the two are equally corrupt, because he doesn’t want to appear partisan. If he starts by saying that Dems are more corrupt than the GOP, then we’ve lost the D-Cons. Once we get the Dems that lean conservative to start thinking of themselves as Americans first, Democrats second (or better yet, not at all!), then we can start cleaning up both parties without having part of the movement flee because we are attacking “their” party.

But then he slathers on thick layers of drama queen goo which threaten to discredit the substance.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Exactly! I don’t have the patience for him. When he does come out with something good, I read about it here on Free Republic ( without the drama).

I’ve been listening to Beck since 2000. He was our local afternoon talk guy and has obviously been promoted from there.

He’s who he always was. He’s off the wall because he has ADD...diagnosed many years ago.

He does his homework, is self educated as far as political issues, sees the big picture better than most (look at all the stuff he was out in front of before it ever happened, financial meltdown, Obama’s real plans, etc.) He’s always been zany, almost Phil Hendrie like when he first started, but it works for him. Self-deprecating humor, mixed with raw passion, has taken him places I’m sure he never dreamed of.

He’s not afraid to lay it on the line, and risk being called crazy, and for that I respect him. Does he fit the mold or is he like anyone before him, no, I don’t think so. But has he gotten more results than anyone, as far as activism, yep he has.

Even back in his afternoon jock days he’d call for improptu protests at his radio station, and people would leave work and go to the radio station and demonstrate on the highway.

His whole staff knows who he is and they work around his ADD. Here’s what he has to say about his ADD:

Now, this is something that I wrestle with in my own family and with my friends because as you know if you listen to this program for more than 10 minutes, I’m riddled with ADD and in fact, when I first was diagnosed, the doctor said, so do you think I — and he just laughed and he said, are you kidding me? Ask the people you work with.

Now, I have tried different medications, et cetera, et cetera, and don’t like most of them and it is really an odd thing to mess with, especially at my age, mess with what a lot of — I believe a lot of my ADD has led to my success. But to be able to regulate it in such a way to where you don’t drive everybody out of their mind crazy around you, I started taking something called Vyvanse. It’s a new drug, and it has — if I may point out my staff knows when I’m not on ADD medicine. True or false? I called Chris Balfe when I was on tour and he was — and he’s our president of our company and I said, you know what, I just realized something, I’m off my medication and that’s why all of this stuff is going on in my head. And he said, Glenn, you’re telling me like this is a surprise? I was on the other side of the country. I hadn’t seen him in a week. And he said, Glenn, day one every member of the staff called and said, could you please get Glenn back on his medication? Because I was keeping people up at 3:00 in the morning going, no, no, wait, wait, wait, I got a better idea.

I hope you are right in assigning Glenn Beck such benign motives but I am not fully persuaded.

The problem is it plays right into the talking points of the Democrat party playbook who routinely equate George Bush's overspending with Barack Obama's even though Obama's is several orders of magnitude greater- so the comparison is simply absurd. Second, I do not think it is a good idea to attract people to your party by telling them that it is infested with crooks. Third, Glenn Beck is a self-confessed libertarian (I too have confessed to pesky libertarian impulses from time to time) and it is typical of a libertarian to vent his wrath against the Republicans even though the Democrats are far greater sinners against his catechism.

I fear that Beck has a vision of forming a new party which would be a move of catastrophic consequences. I much prefer your analysis.

Kimberly GG nailed it. Glenn Beck and other good people will “demand” justice and “speak out” against corruption, and our faux President will ask, “What protest?” Glenn may one day willingly die to “preserve the Republic.” I pray that the Republic may survive, but if it ever comes to that, I hope to be able to die killing to reestablish it.

Glenn seems like many of us to be post-Republican. I will support most any conservative either party.

Sch rot on FR?

Unreal.

I thought we had a more sensible group.

“Bipolar”?

How many times has that appeared on this thread?

Bipolar? How can any reasonable person accuse another of being bipolar with zero personal contact?

As for Beck, who among us would have known who and what Van Jones is, what Cass Sunstein is, what Valerie Jarrett is.....if it were not for Glenn Beck?

From you local paper? From the NYT?

For the dense: Beck is obviously not promoting a third party. He is advocating that you vote for the person, not the party. That you vote for a conservative regardless of party, not vote for a Lindsay Graham just because he says he is a conservative republican, or for a Chris Dodd just because he says he is honest.

Vote for the man based on what he is.

That is not promoting a third party. That is weeding the garden.

Thank you dawn53, I didn’t get a chance to see his show and was dying to know what he talked about. Yours is the first i read that was clear and concise. That sounds like a great plan. I personally can’t listen to anymore arguments about anything until the corruption is rooted out, because its just a charade otherwise...good for Glenn.

Those of you trying to imtimate that Beck has some sort of mental disorder are giving fuel to the loony toons and cutting off your noses to spite your faces.
I LISTEN to what Beck says. The other day, he was distraught. Why? Because there was NOWHERE he could take his family without being worried for their safety. He ended up renting a BOAT so they could spend some time NOT locked up in their home.
YESTERDAY, he was distraught. Why? Because he didn’t WANT to be locked up in a safe studio. He wanted to be in DC, but fears for his life prevented it. What is the matter with you?
You people seem not to understand the risks this man is taking. His life, his family’s lives, are in constant danger. He is being attacked by every left wing loon asylum under the sun
GOD!!! If you can’t understand what the man has sacrificed; if you can’t understand the pressure he is under; if you cannot comprehend what he has done, at least stop and think who gets all the ammunition from what you are speculating about without so much as a hint that what you are saying is even remotely true.
Beck has been out front on the most relevent moral issues of our time. He led the Terri Schiavo fight even though it might have cost him his radio show.
He challenged Johnny Sutton to his face.
What do you want from him? If you can do anything any better than Beck has, why aren’t you out there doing it?

I repectfully disagree. “Refounders” is a start all over again concept. Those who think alike should join together no matter what party you are in now, no matter whether you are dem, pub, independent. If you BELIEVE in the America our Founders gifted us with, and want to get it done, we have the army. You saw SOME of them yesterday.

“But then he slathers on thick layers of drama queen goo which threaten to discredit the substance”

When you say discredit...who would find it discreditable?

People who don’t like what Beck has to say? If he said it in metrosexual terms and bureaucratic behavioral controlled calmness, do you think they would listen?

Peoples’ heads AND HEARTS need to be enguaged if any change is going to occur.

Drama queen gooo....just another modern metrosexual term for passionate patriotism!

To: MestaMachine; All

I don’t think you try to form a third party so much as you start framing the other 2 parties as one party that oscillates between go fast progressivism and the go slow approach.

Another words you have the republocrat fascist party and you have the new America Party! You work to change the paradigm....and start speaking of the Dems and Pubs as one party, indeed there is much to support such assertions!

Make no mistake, I have no use for the RNC as it is today.

Nevertheless, there are some very good people in the repub party and it is an organization already in place.

It is a lot smarter to take control of an existing organization and turn it into what we want than to try to start over.

Don't believe it?

Look at what Obummer, the Fascist, and his group have done with the democratic party.

They did not try to start a progressive party or a statist party. They were too smart. They took over an existing party with its fund raising machine, ties to every small town and most of all, dragged along the party loyals who vote party no matter what happens.

If conservatives are smart, which is questionable, they will do the same with the republican party.
