The Maoist Moment in Washington
Patriot's History of the United States | 9/13/09 | LS

Posted on 09/13/2009 6:07:26 AM PDT by LS

It's pretty clear we've arrived at a Maoist Moment in our history.

A month or so ago, I asked in a column here, "What if They Don't Care?" The gist was that either a) Obama had promised "blue dogs" or Dems in tough districts that he would send in ACORN and ensure their re-election if they voted for "health non-care" (HNC) or b) would give them admin jobs if they lost. If they could just build the "doomsday machine," sure they might lose their seat in 2010 . . . but would have it back in 2012 and probably never lose again after that. Once the "doomsday vote-machine" was in (see: amnesty, card-check, etc.), they would be back in style, having been abundantly compensated in the meantime.

Many here suggested, "Oh, no, pols only live to win elections." Most do, but some truly are ideological, and Dems especially know how to "take one for the team." We've seen this again and again when black candidates are told to go to the back of the Dem bus for a more popular white to win.

I bring this up as a background against yesterday's fantastic Washington march. This was critical and necessary activism, and likely will only grow. But do not be fooled. If your objective in going there was to impress Congress, Obama, or the media, it will go down as a failure. What the marchers did accomplish was to once again show ordinary Americans, most of whom now oppose Zero's plans, that they are not alone. In fact, it showed them they are in a sharply growing majority.

Some have suggested that Obama/Reid/Pelosi should be "afraid" when they saw that crowd. I don't think they're afraid at all. You have to understand that they would only be "afraid" if two conditions were operable.

First, they would only be afraid if they REALLY were getting good information about the size of the opposition and the depth of the anger. But they aren't. ABC said the number was 60,000. That's not even an OSU football game. It doesn't matter if the numbers were really two million, what matters is that Pelosi/Reid/Obama's staffers tell them repeatedly that these are a few kooks, and then they hear on MSNBC about the "tea-baggers" and laugh, and that's it. The final decay of the drive-by media ultimately will harm the libs more than anyone else, because it deprives them of solid facts on which to make a decision.

They don't like it when we invoke Hitler, however appropriate the specific reference might be. Ok, how about Mao? In Maoist China, ALL the government advisers told Mao that the "Great Leap Forward" was a success and he believed them because he wanted to believe them and because they were so terrified of crossing him that they only brought him "good news" anyway. They staged massive phony shows of strange new genetically-bred crops, of wheat so big children could sit on it (it was a table underneath), of "surpluses" that the peasants had to leave on the side of the road (guarded by the military until the moment Mao passed by).

Not one of his advisers dared tell him of the starvation in the countryside, to the tune of millions of people. Think of it: how can MILLIONS die and the ruler be absolutely unaware of it? It's not hard with a state-run media that exists only to serve the master, and serving the master means keeping him happy, not keeping him informed.

It was no different with Hitler and his generals. When he insisted on moving entire armies around that no longer existed, the generals "carried out the orders" as if the tanks and men were real!

We are very much in danger of this situation. It's not JUST that Obama and his ilk are ideologically predisposed to ignoring protests, conservative organizing, and criticism, but their "commanders in the field" are NOT giving Herr Obama accurate information. Quite the contrary, the drive-bys are going out of their way to shape and distort information so that it will be pleasing to the Supreme Chairman. Yet the Japanese and British medias got the numbers right, and certainly appreciated the significance of 9/12.

How much like East Germany does this sound, where the only truth anyone could hear came from foreign nations? Are we getting close to the point where all contrary media voices will be crushed, or forced to operate from an off-shore ship?

Can you say Radio Free Limbaugh?

This was exactly my thought yesterday as I stood at my local Tea Party. Who on the other side cares or is even paying attention? If some news outlet would publish an article showing this was a cross country movement with hundreds or thousands of such parties, would that even make a difference?
My prayer is we have enough folks to send them packing in 2010, but then my other fear is will we even have good candidates? We don’t need anymore Snowes or McCains.

It’s as plain as this morning’s bright blue, sunny sky that “they” don’t care. On the day of the DC party, BHO is elsewhere doubling down. The momentum from Saturday for opposition to this administration/government must be maintained.

One young man had a sign” “Don’t make me come back with the militia”. I fear that the elite in government will not listen to anything the people have to say. I fear that the young man’s sign was a portent of things to come.

I fear and at the same time I am prepared.

For an individual militia man, I am well armed; and, it’s high time. I don’t say that without serious thought.

>One young man had a sign” “Don’t make me come back with the militia”.

If I’d gone, I’d have wanted that sign to be mine! (Just imagine militant maneuvers on DC... especially after we cut it off the grid, physically block the roads, and set up anti-aircraft arty.)

>I fear that the elite in government will not listen to anything the people have to say.

It would seem that way; but then God does say that pride comes before a fall. They are corrupt and proud to be corrupt; it would be best for The People to disenfranchise them than for God to have to take action against the country as a whole.

>I fear that the young man’s sign was a portent of things to come.

I’ve been of that opinion for a while now.

>I fear and at the same time I am prepared.

And that is good.

On another thread someone reported that the state run media in Japan was doing accurate reporting on the Tea Party March on Washington!

Isn’t it amazing that socialists in other countries get better reporting on America than socialists in this country?

Let them delude themselves. Elections are next year and we have a GREAT chance at throwing a lot of bums out. From both parties.

We couldn't make it to D.C. because my wife recently had major surgery and we didn't know if she would be recovered enough to attend. But we will be there next time.

Next time? Yes. Yesterday's event was merely the biggest, most-successful gathering to date. It can't be the last, although it's expensive in both time and energy.

We can't let up, it has to intensify -- they are counting on us to lose our energy.

And, unfortunately, there are other major issues on the horizon that require as much, if not more, scrutiny and dissent. Cap & Trade and immigration "reform", aka amnesty, will deal crippling economic and societal blows to our heritage, and we must fight them with our last breaths.

For my money (literally, since we're talking about tax dollars), the next step in the maturity of the Tea Party movement is when it begins to generate candidates for office, starting at the local level. It is going to be a very long road, but eventually, those candidates elected at the local level become more and more viable to effect REAL change -- not the Chairman Zero kind -- and when that change reaches the state and national level, we make real steps toward getting our country back.

Keep the faith!

Although I am loathe to think it, I fear that the only way Washington will ever get the message is if next time we return carrying something more than signs.

Yet, if we can get enough of our elected representatives on board, it might just be possible to bring the Federal government to an effective halt until they face up to the cesspool of thievery and corruption they have allowed our Capitol to become. Because it is our Capitol.

In any event, next year's elections are going to be pivotal and vital to our Republic's future.

You're right, but not in a fashion that will accomplish anything through a change in who is in power. I predict the cheating will be rampant, blatant, in-your-face and nationwide.

Evident while all are at the rally, the community organizer is in Minnisota. They are not moved, they are commited to the agenda regardless of what the American people say. What will it take to get the message across? Up to now it’s been peaceful. Keep your head,,chip away, use thier very own tactics to break them. patience and vigilance will win the day. They would just love it if violence entered the arena. Don’t let it happen!

Everyone knows who ACORN is now, and what they do. They will continue to cheat but expect a lot more public citizen action against it.

The quality of the information doesn’t matter. This administration doesn’t believe any one has the power to stop them. Mao, Hitler, and Stalin were well aware of the conditions of their nations. Their priorities were in demonstrating and oppressing the populations they controlled, everything else was secondary. The media was more important for spreading lies to others than supporting dictatorial fantasies.
I think the only real surprise for this administration was the reaction to the school speech. This was designed not to brainwash children with its message but rather to ostracize the children of conservative parents with the post speech activities. Obama certainly wasn’t panning on having to deal with parents directly.

If they “pass” amnesty, why should we NOT consider them traitors?

The only way to stop them, both Republican and Democrat, is to starve the beast. Could you imagine if the 2 million refused to pay their taxes, or delayed paying them on time ?

I don't think Obama cares one way or the other, as long as he has the power to enforce his wishes, but I still think this is a good point. The news media is obviously terrified of crossing him or his minions, and this is the reason they simply refuse to report anything negative or seriously distort the facts about Obama's opponents.

It's possible that some of the Dem politicians are also afraid of Obama. I think we have a classic Frankenstein's monster here...they didn't realize he was going to get out of the controlled environment of the campaign image they had built and suddenly decide that he really was the Messiah, after all, and start ripping the wires out and going after his creators.

I agree, but that’s not the point. The point is, in all closed societies where the press refrains from criticizing the leader, ultimately (sometimes this takes a long time) this contributes to the demise of the regime, because to make good decisions (i.e., even decisions that are only “good” for you) you need reliable information. Either no one is giving him that, or, if they are, he’s deliberately ignoring it.
