Yes indeedy, an awesome day. I loved the March. I loved how during the march, we’d pass people on the sidewalk or they’d be stopped right in the middle of the road (facing the crowd) and would yell something out and everyone would go crazy cheering. There were some people hanging out on top of a building along the march route that were getting everyone fired up. Everyone was in a good mood and passionate about the reasons they were there. I love these threads so I can relive those moments.

That was a great sign! When I saw it, I had to break out in a loud falsetto voice: “Don’t tax me Bro!”

Oh, BufordP, you are such a shrinking violet and so sensitive...:)

For power and drama, the Norman Rockwell sign was a very good one, but from a perspective of matching your personality, your Urkel sign could not be beat!

That was one boatload of fun!

But unfortunately it wasn’t my original idea. I cannot take credit for the Urkel idea - only that I made sure that it was put on a psoter and represented at the protest. I wish I knew who created the original.

BufordP, as anyone involved in selling or buying a product, even more than “content, content, content” it is “presentation, presentation, presentation”!

And that’s what your sign did in spades! (But I will tell you, I did have a newfound respect for your perseverance when I carried it for a period of time... that thing was heavy, and it did catch the wind and make you struggle to hold it.

But I would say it was worth it, not only from the perspective of having an effective platform to show the message from, but from simply acting as a moving rally point that we could look up at almost any time and know where you were by the unique sign sticking out of a crowd and the group of people cluster around taking pictures...:)

That was a completely family friendly day. As I said somewhere else, we knew we wouldn’t be seeing signs like the one at GOE in 2007 that said “WILL SUCK C*** FOR PEACE!”

It restored some of my faith in the people of this country.

TR—what a great event. Mrs. exit 82 and I were there—we got to Pennsylvania Ave. about 10:45 am by 12 th Street heading to Freedom Plaza and the March had already started!

We joined in because there was no way to get to Freedom Plaza, the crowd was so huge.

We walked all around the crowd Saturday, but we could not find the Freepers. We did find a dear old friend from NJ—we found his sign while in the parade(it was very high!)

Where did you guys wind up?

Here’s my report from Sunday on FR:

“I was there yesterday with Mrs. exit82.

There are few words that can describe being with conservative folks that love America—they were from everywhere.

Having been at events in DC that had 300,000 people, my estimate is 700,000 people.

We walked all through the crowd making a circle through it once we got to the Capitol. We did not hear one curse word, no foul language, everyone was jovial and courteous, people were mindful of the many handicapped people in attendance and helped them and made room for them, people said “sorry” and “excuse me” when the thickness of the crowd made folks squish together. There was a lot of laughter, because the signs were so creative and clever that you could not help but laugh. The camaderie was tangible.

Mrs. exit 82 picked up on something. She said the day had a spiritual quality about it—that God had His peace over the whole event. That’s how awesome it was. It is very hard to explain, but you could not hang with a better crowd even at a Southern Baptist convention. Perhaps God is giving us a second chance to get our nation headed in the right direction.”

Hey, look at the photo I found:

FYI to everybody, 912dc.org is asking everybody to help put a digital archive of the 912 march together. Put your images up on Flickr.com and use 912dc as a search tag for your photo album, so that other people can find the images.

Right now, the 912dc Flickr search brings up around 1500 images and videos. Some very heartwarming and energizing photos of "the mob" on Saturday... go take a look, and add your images to the archive.

Good find. That’s Rongkirby in white cap to BufordP’s left.

BP and Rong said they had about 1000 patriots take a pic of the sign.

We were roughly at 3rd & Madison as soon as you made the right turn. With all the people it is no wonder that joining up with others was impossible.

Good report, thanks.

This time, I really did expect it.

@@@@@

Just imagine how many people had the same experience this weekend that you had in 2007. They will ALL be sharing their real life reporting with what was and was not covered by our so-called news media.

Result: millions more Americans with nothing but disdain and cynicism for the “news” as reported.

Everyone had a camera. The photos are all over the country by now. And there is nothing that our “media” can do to hide the truth any longer.

I agree. The sense of community was awesome. The weather was perfect! Every time it seemed to get a bit warm, a breeze would spring up. When it would get too cool, the sun would peep out from the clouds. Baltimore had rain all day long. DC nary a drop. This might sound a bit freaky, but I felt like I was involved in something like the Hollywood version of huge crowds who gathered to hear the message of the Apostles. No whining, no complaining, just joyful faces to be among so many like-minded people.

The "invasion" of DC was so calm and peaceful, that it even took the police by surprise.

Maica, you are so right about the weather. I do poorly in humidity, and I was comfortable all day.

When it got warm, I looked up and asked the Lord for a breeze for everyone; when a drop fell, I asked for the rain to hold off. I’m not taking credit, but it was the Lord knew what we needed and He was helping us.

He certainly blessed us on Saturday.

Although a bright sunny day would have been ideal, there probably would have been more fainting and sunstroke on a day like that. The clouds and the breeze kept everyone comfortable.
