Freepers First Impressions of Obama LIVE THREAD: DNC Convention - Day 2 (2004)

I was going back through some of my old postings to different threads and I found the live thread of day 2 of the DNC of 2004. This was the day that Obama was the keynote speaker. The comments start at post 1671 and go on through about 1950. Some of the comments I found to be surprising and some prophetic.

FReepers like Dog knew back in 2004 what some FReepers were still denying as recently as October 2008 ...that Obama was a very lethal package, and was not to be ignored. I remember some people saying late last year that Obama could never win because 'none of their relatives, workmates and friends would ever vote for him,' not realizing that that was a closed-loop system that was highly susceptible to error (since your family, friends and work-place acquintances are VERY LIKELY to have the same political and social viewpoints that you have, thus it would be expected that they would also be very anti-Obama).

That old thread is quite interesting - particularly those FReepers who could see that Obama was more than a lapboy for Kerry. Just as interesting is how some FReepers even went as far as saying he would make a good republic ....basically, Obama's oratory skill/illusion had managed to make them see him as a viable choice on our side, if he could 'only jump the aisle.' That was a major danger sign.

Going forward, the good news is that his illusions and obfuscation are starting to wear thin at the edges, and already buyers remorse is setting in. He oversold, overpromised, and evidently cannot deliver.

Thanks...and remember this.

O still has 3 plus years left in this term to turn it around. Once they figure out he is overexposed and back off on his being out there every day....his poll numbers could go back up again.

3 years is a eternity in politics.
