New Book Debunks Human-Chimp Similarity
ICR News ^ | September 17, 2009 | Brian Thomas, M.S.

New Book Debunks Human-Chimp Similarity by Brian Thomas, M.S.* Evolutionary science repeatedly declares that chimps and humans are 98 percent genetically identical, which is then taken as solid evidence that mankind evolved from an apelike ancestor. But a former BBC producer’s new book has found reasons to emphasize research that is often overlooked by evolutionary advocates—scientific results that reveal the uniqueness of man.

In Not a Chimp: The hunt to find the genes that make us human, which was reviewed in New Scientist magazine, evolutionist Jeremy Taylor investigated not only the genetic distinctions between humans and apes, but also the...

Chimps are so much shorter than humans, and walk around on all fours, it should be easy to disprove this nonsense.

Anybody ever seen the roads chimps build?

...evolutionist Jeremy Taylor

So the ICR is recommending a book by an evolutionist?

They forgot to mention whether Mr. Taylor abandoned his belief in evolution and adopted 6 day creation mythology instead.

I thought you said all evolutionists were liars? Using your logic, I guess I shouldn't believe him.

“The ongoing genetic, behavioral, and neurological discoveries summarized in this book highlight the observation that chimps are not practically human. And this fits squarely with the biblical account that mankind was uniquely made in the image of God.’

False dichotomy.

As much as xcamel loves to puff herself up by referring to herself as the chief chimp on FR, she did not post this article, I did. As you can see from my typing I am fully human. And while xcamel has deluded herself into believing she is a chimp, articles like these cause her distress because she fancies that she is related to humans.

If people are made in the image of god, how come they all look different? And what size shoes do He wear?

The exaggerated claims of human-chimp similarity were never put in the context of a reasonable argument by evolutionists in the first place. As Karl Popper defined science, a hypothesis must be testable for it to be scientific. Yet there was never any such test proposed (or a rationale defined for such a test) to evaluate whether the similarity favors a common ancestor.

In other words, if evolutionists had calculated mutation rates and natural selection, etc., and announced that a similarity >95% (for example) supported common ancestory, and anything below 95% disproved the hypothesis, then we would have a scientific, testable hypothesis. Nothing of the sort was ever forthcoming, instead it was just emotional hype that ignores the obvious fact that _something_ has to be more similar to humans than anything else.

Chimps throw their poo. Isn’t that enough evidence for you?

PS As you can see, xcamel failed to ping me to her insult, which means she is a rather cowardly person (who thinks she is a chimp) as well.

When a difference of opinion in interpretaion of the evidence is advertised as “debunking”, you’re not being presented with an honest assesment of the situation.

You mean the Institute for Creation Research is not being totally honest?!

I never would have thought. They are such a respected group within the scientific community.

We are greater than 98% the same in genetic DNA. That is >95%, so it would (by your infantile criteria) support the hypothesis of common descent.

But of course a gross comparison of DNA genetic similarity is NOT how common ancestry is determined.

I suggest you learn SOMETHING about how phylogenetic relationships are established before spouting off illogical nonsense.
