Even tho odumbo deliberately lied on his ILL Bar app that is not why his license was not renewed.

Apparently for the Dear Leader lying is ok.

If it is an ordinary happening that Michelle wasn’t practicing so she decided not to renwewhy seal?

Yawn, not this again . . . It was not “revoked”, it was placed on inactive status, as is routine for attorneys who are no longer practicing law in the state and don’t expect to be in the near future. It means you no longer get notices from the bar association reminding that you have to complete x number of worthless continuing education credits by x date, and you no longer get annual bills for for your membership fee. She can reactivate it any time she likes by sitting through a restaurant dinner-PowerPoint presentation that qualifies for c.e. credits and sending in a form with a check for the annual membership fee.

Funny but when I hit your Google link I got dozens of sites that mention MO’s revocation.

ONLY Freerepublic.com is listed as its URL address, not its name: 209.157.64.200/focus/f-news/2342005/posts

I wonder if Google doesn’t like FR!!!!! They can’t even mention our name!

haha. Right. The media will be all over this. Uh-huh.

I recall reading about this sometime last fall. I believe her license was “suspended,” and it was not by the IL bar. It was a federal agency or watchdog group or something like that. It was also stated that this “agency” does not deal with minor problems.

Obama’s license probably just lapsed. But it would be interesting to know for sure.

She removed it herself actually. World Net Daily already looked into it. But no harm in asking it anyway, a la “Did Glenn Beck Rape and Murder...” and “Bury Obama with Kennedy”.

CLEs are lame. But the conventions organzied around them can be fun—if it’s in a city with a good night life.

Hmmm . . . I didn’t hear that.

The NEW media will cover this - the old media is not worthy of the name “the press.” I’m waiting for the enterprising attorney to sue the networks for making campaign contributions to the Democrats for their coverage!

It would be my guess too, *except* that Illinois requires 20 hours of CLE plus 4 in ethics per two year period.

I'm a physician/MBA. I'm not involved in patient care but I do keep my medical licenses active *because* it might be difficult to reactivate them if I don't. I need 100 hours of CME per two year period. My point is -- how much trouble can it possibly be for a lawyer to spend less than 15 minutes weekly pursuing continuing education????

There might not be any fire, but there's at least the faint smell of smoke.

"Usually it’s because people don’t want to pay the Bar dues when they are not practicing."

Oh, so they wanted to save a few pennies to help family members in need, was that it? Hmmmm...I bet Obami's bro in the hut could use the cost of one year's bar membership. He could probably start a business with such seed money.

Just a thought.

OMG!!!! I just read one of the articles. This is in the words of Blago:

HARRIS said they could work out a three-way deal with SEIU and the President-elect where SEIU could help the President-elect with ROD BLAGOJEVICH’s appointment of Senate Candidate 1 to the vacant Senate seat, ROD BLAGOJEVICH would obtain a position as the National Director of the Change to Win campaign, and SEIU would get something favorable from the President-elect in the future.

UNBELIEVABLE!!!!

You wonder after all the time and money (someone else’s?) that went into getting their degrees and passing the bar, why would he end up letting it lapse. Yes, he was going into politics, but keeping it isn’t so hard, is it?

And wouldn’t it be fun to see what she did to lose hers?

Continuing Education only became effective in Illinois a few years ago. For people whose last name begins with “O” or “R”, they would have had to have 20 hours by the end of June 2009.

I have a law degree and never even bothered taking the bar. If you have other employment opportunities that you prefer and/or which pay better, why keep paying an annual fee to keep a professional license active that your aren’t going to use? Also, depending on what sort of work you *are* doing, you may want specifically *not* to be a licensed attorney, to avoid blurring the line as to whether you might be serving as legal counsel to someone, when actually you were doing some other kind of work for them. The bizarre dictates of “legal ethics” are something many sane people wouldn’t want to have applied to them. You know, like the cases where it would have been illegal for a attorney to let a court know that the person being convicted and sent to prison was innocent, because they knew their own client actually committed the crime — I recall two fairly recent cases of this type, and in both, the state bar association involved said the attorneys did the right thing, even though it meant an innocent person spent decades in prison — the bar association would have prosecuted the attorneys if they had told the court what they knew.

If I ever want to practice law (something I can only imagine doing in retirement, on behalf of gun rights or some other anti-socialist cause), I can sign up for a bar review course, take the bar exam, and become a licensed attorney. I still have the J.D. It’s doubtful Michelle would even have to re-take the bar exam if she wanted to reactivate her license.

She is not elected and regardless of what happened this will be seen as an attack on the President’s wife. Widely considered to be a low life act.

"My guess - and this is just a guess - is that they didn’t keep up with continuing educatiopn requirements and therefore are no longer on the list of “active” attorneys."

"This is the innocuous explanation. If there are others, I’m sure someone in the new media will investigate further."

I don't know where to find it but there is a law book or something like that, that, shows Michelle Obama voluntarily gave up her lisense before she was criminally charged. Barack Obama just didn't renew his.

I misread the bold part and thought it said NEWS media. I was going to LOL!

My cursor hit the google thread and within the first few "headlines" at the link were some of the vilest descriptions of Michelle Obama. Jeez Louise are there still folks out there that are that stoneage?

Disagreeing with someone's politics are one thing, but complete denigration of someone as a human being is another.

In no way do I associate you with those descriptions, they only turned up in a reasonably phrased google search. But man, there are some real nutballs out there. One my views of conservatism is that All Men are Created Equal Under the Law. This is also the view of the constitution. This has been our ideal as a nation and as a people. But when I see Michelle Obama described in the vilest of terms--There is no excuse for that writer.

As for Michelle Obama herself, I have not much of an opinion of her, except that I think it is over the top that she is the new "Jackie", or the best dressed woman of the planet...Other than that, she is just the wife of the president.

Check it out for yourself folks.

“Other than that, she is just the wife of the president.”

She’s the wife of the president harping about healthcare. She’s the b!tch who was throwing poor people out of the hospital where she worked because the hoity-toity patients didn’t want to be around the unwashed masses.

She said we’d all have to “serve” whether we wanted to or not.

She said she’d never been proud of her country until 2008.

She wrote a racist thesis for her degree at a college she never could’ve attended if not for affirmative action.

Shall I continue?
