Obama as witch doctor: Racist or satirical?
CNN ^ | 9/17/09 | Ashley Franz

Posters portraying President Obama as a witch doctor may be racist, organizers of Tea Party protests say, but they reflect anger about where he is leading the country.

The posters, showing Obama wearing a feather headdress and a bone through his nose, have recently popped up in e-mails, on Web sites and at Tea Party protests.

The image has stoked debate and cast attention on the rallies, which have drawn people Tea Party organizers describe as on the fringe and not representative of the overall movement. Their general viewpoint, leaders say, is that there's been too much federal government intervention, particularly concerning health care and taxes.

The witch doctor imagery is blatantly racist, critics contend.

Others remind that presidents get made fun off all the time, and the election of a black president has only made racially charged political satire more sensitive.

I love the witch doctor posters — saw one guy with two of them, huge posters, at the Los Angeles 9/12 tea party. He separated himself from the crowd and displayed his posters on other side of Wilshire — not sure why but I sure did love seeing them when I walked over there. Maybe he did not want to ‘get lost in the crowd.’

How are these worse than “W” seen as a chimp for 8 YEARS and other similar disrespectful pix and sayings? I say keep it coming — it’s going to be a real bumpy ride!

Both. On the one hand, it is brilliant satire, making the point that Americans would do about as well relying on a witch doctor as on government healthcare.

On the other hand you don’t need to be insane and hearing voices in your head like Dyson, Dowd and the other moonbats to see it as racist.

I’m not comfortable with it and think it is counterproductive to our cause.

Of course, even the most polite and well reasoned objections to Obamacare will be denounced as racist by much of the left and the media, anyway, but we should not give them any ammunition to level legitimate charges of racism.

The witchdoctor image draws attention to the "voodoo" nature of ObamaCare; with which we will be forced to use herbs, potions, chants and amulets to keep us alive until we can get an appointment with a doctor who will just cut off our feet and remove our tonsils and give us a pain pill.

I suppose saying "voodoo" is racist, too, though.

I’ve had a perpetual earworm problem.

Thing is, I didn’t know what to call it . . . until now.

So? It’s hardly news that the commies get a free pass. That doesn’t mean it makes sense to play into their hands.

You mean none of his ancestors in Africa were witch-doctors?

I guess it’s racist to depict a black man as a...black man.

Since when did native dress become racial?

Since it isn't HIS native dress

And if we ever find out the true country of 0bozo's origin, then we can show 0bozo in HIS native dress...or dressette!!!

’ The witchdoctor image draws attention to the “voodoo” nature of ObamaCare; with which we will be forced to use herbs, potions, chants and amulets to keep us alive ..”

One of the biggest advocates of Huna, the ancient Hawaiian healing art that uses chanting, herbs, plants ,massage
and spirituality to try and heal sickness ...
is Dr Chiyome Fukino, the head of the Hawaii Dept of Health
and the person who declared Obama to be a natural born citizen.
Small world.

“I’m not comfortable with it and think it is counterproductive to our cause.”

I agree...it is a little too much for my taste...I am NOT shy about calling a spade a spade...but this goes a little too far.
