Any dog can bite. My sister brought over her little dog Nemo on Friday(Half maltese/half pomeranian, only weights 8 1/2 pounds) for some reason, bit me on the lip, it was my fault for getting in his face wanting to kiss him, so today I went and got a tetenus shot done(needed one anyway) and 10 days of Cipro since dogs can carry bacteria. Bottom line is, anything can set a dog off, little dog, big dog. After all is said and done, they are still dogs

Never got bit over getting too face-to-face with a dog, but I’ve gotten big slobbery licks on the kisser.

Absolutely correct. Yet some people are too damn dumb to realize that, no matter how docile a dog is, there are certain things that may set them off for (usually) territorial and/or defensive reasons, but they'll continue to do it again and again, and blame the dog. Dogs are intuitive. Dogs are intelligent. But at the end of the day, as you said, they're dogs.

Sadly, some of the small breeds have very sharp temperaments. Poms are one I would put in that category. I don’t care where you had your face, the dog should not have bitten you. Fortunately it’s small and unlikely to do the devastating damage of a large dog, but still, I would not excuse a dog for biting like that.
