Appearing on CBSs Sunday Morning, commentator Ben Stein ripped into CNN political analyst James Carville for claiming anti-Obama protestors were "classless": "the elitist anger of the liberal Democrats is boiling over as some ordinary citizens show they dont like being pushed around....Contempt for the ordinary citizen is just not American and it does not win elections."
Earlier in his commentary, Stein wondered: "I thought the Democrats were the party of the little guys and those who arent classy or well born...So now the Democrats are admitting theyre the party of the rich?" He went on to point out that Democrats have "been getting the lions share of very large political gifts for years now. The truth is that the Democrats are the fat cats. Im impressed that Mr. Carville admitted it. I like him more than ever now."
Stein continued: "I was also interested to see that Mr. Carville, a mere lad of 64, same age as I am, has made fun of the age of the tea party attendees." A clip was played of Carville declaring: " I mean they had every old crank in the country out there." Stein observed: "So now the Democrats dont think the opinions of senior citizens are worth anything more than ridicule?"

Brilliant smackdown. :)
saw it and loved it
Ben really nails old Snake Face. I particularly like his comment on calling the protesters “classless.” BIFF! BAM! POW!
Too genius! Elitists, totally and completely.
Stein knows how the punditry game is played and he plays it.
Did you know Carville’s family runs the only leper asylum in the US?

Yes, that was my immediate thought. LOL! You can’t make this stuff up.
The best part will be when he gets home tonight and Mary Matalin has to explain to "Captain Cueball" what Ben Stein meant!
The liberals have always thought of themselves as smarter than anyone else and uniquely qualified to make decisions for the whole world.
LoL I will never understand those two.
The kindness shown by his family is heartwarming- yet in no way does it change Carville’s ugly attacks into honest political debate.
As a captain on the Boeing 757 for a major airline, I had a run-in with Carville some years ago in Denver. He had arrived from the east coast, and was in a hurry to get somewhere (the airplane was early, but he was still in a rush). I was the oncoming pilot, getting ready to fly the outbound trip to the west coast. When the plane pulled in, I was waiting on the jetway next to the exit door. He rudely pushed me out of the way and snarled something under his breath as he passed.
He had made a pigsty out of the first class seat he was in, had strewn newspapers and junk all over the floor. When he ran out of reading materials, he threw a fit with the Flight Attendants about the lack or reading materials suitable to his taste. He had bitched about everything: food, drinks, the service, the bathrooms, you name it. It took me at least 10 minutes of silent listening and affirmative nodding to get them cooled down enough to fly the leg to the west coast.
Nice smackdown!
“Did you know Carvilles family runs the only leper asylum in the US?”
.....I’m not too sure about that....Carville is a common family name in south Louisiana....when I lived down there my lawyer was a Carville....there were a number of them in St.John-the-Baptist Parish.
James Carville- a lizard with a little bit of human DNA.
