'He will destroy the Democratic party'
nationalreview.com ^ | Sept. 22, 2009 | Rich Lowry

This Washington Post story captures the stark divide over Afghanistan, with a unified military command on the one side — including McChrystal, Mullen, and Petraeus — and a president who is not sure he wants to follow through on "the counterinsurgency strategy he set in motion six months ago" on the other.

There's this anonymous quote from one observer: "He can send more troops and it will be a disaster and he will destroy the Democratic party.

Or he can send no more troops and it will be a disaster and the Republicans will say he lost the war."

Isn't this extraordinary? Obama will roil the Democratic party by sending more troops to fight the war that Democrats have said for years is the "necessary war" (in Obama's words), the central war in the fight against terror, etc., etc.

It's hard to imagine a starker demonstration of bad faith on an important issue of national security.

This is going to be like Vietnam. I pray for our troops. Nobody wants to die because of a dumb ass politician and his stupid policy. If they are not going to be supported with the resources that have been been requested by the generals, then those same generals should put the troops first and not send these under staffed and under supplied troops into harms way. I was in Vietnam during the draw down in 1972. Nobody wanted to be the last one to die there. Field operations came to a stand still where I was.

The standard response for Obama under these circumstances will be to vote present! He’ll mence around and send a few thousand troops and blame the military.

I would like to win the war. Not just because losing would make the USA even weaker but for the sake of the Afghans that have done the right thing and the little girls in the schools learning to read.

Its tough being a leader when you lack any moral compass. Every choice made is for expediency. He created this stew himself. Good luck Zero.

Obama campaigned with vague promises, platitudes, and cryptic phrases. The people read what they wanted to read into what he was saying. Now that ACTIONS define him, almost nobody likes what he is doing.

Liberalism always sounds good when put into words-when put into action, we have a history to observe, it always fails.

Odumbo and the word character will never be associated.

I truly believe Odumbo thinks he is speaking to shoeless Kenyans who haven’t neither functioning brains, education nor memory.

And he expects the fringe media to cover for him.

It’s really hard not to think that there isn’t a greater power at play here really working hard to make the Dems paint themselves into a corner at every turn! Evil can be defeated and will be.

Article excerpt - “Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton yesterday said Obama is getting “the exact opposite” advice from McChrystal than from other counterinsurgency experts.”

..... Just lovely. Obama himself just recently appointed McChrystal to implement a new Afghan strategy on the grounds that the existing plan was somehow wanting. Now, a mere few months later, it is being not so very delicately implied that McChrystal is some sort of military clown who doesn’t just get it.

There is definitely a clown involved in this political circus, but it is NOT McChrystal. The current occupant of the White House strikes me as nothing less than an amalgam of the worst possible features of Gore, Carter, and Kerry: clueless, irrational, and insufferably arrogant.

“He can send more troops and it will be a disaster and he will destroy the Democratic party. Or he can send no more troops and it will be a disaster and the Republicans will say he lost the war.”

Perhaps he should follow the advice of ACORN and Code Pink. They seem like such nice and enlightened people. They both have always been held in such high esteem by the Democratic party, especially when they were making life difficult for George W. Bush and the Republicans.

Oh, a person could argue that destroying—parties and the country and the economy and our military and our history—is just the beginning.

Do we really want nukes in the hands of Al Qaeda and the Taliban?

0bama does. And he wants our military to convert to Islam and join 'em.

>>> Clearly McChrystal, Mullen, and Petraeus are racist! <<<<

If we had a Muslim jirga (tribal assembly of elders) running the Pentagon, we wouldn’t be having these problems.
