BEASON, Ill. - A central Illinois sheriff says autopsies on five members of a family found slain in their home revealed that none of the victims had been shot.

At a news conference this morning, Logan County Sheriff Steven Nichols wouldn't discuss the cause of death further. On Tuesday, Nichols had said authorities discovered the bodies at the family's ranch-style house after responding to a 911 call about possible shots fired.

I don’t think we want to know EXACTLY what happened. Sounds ominous.

I saw the original “Red Dragon” the other day.
It is called “Manhunter”, with William Peterson (CSI)
The guy playing Hannibal Lecktor is much more menacing that Anthony Hopkins.
The ending is shocking in it’s violence. but I imagine much more realistic when confronting a vile psychopathic killer.

There’s some information that doesn’t stack up. An earlier story by the local newspaper source, corroborated by this article and video, stated the family was slain Monday, according to the video close to midnight. Then this story states the authorities answered a 911 call later on Tuesday in response to shots fired. Yet now we learn that none of the victims were shot.

There seems to be a time lapse of some period before the 911 call came in. Was the 911 call from the perps? Were they using the “shots fired” statement to give credence to their knowing something was going on while trying to imply no association?

OTOH, if the 911 call was legitimate and shots were fired, how is it that none of the victims had gunshot wounds? Did one of the victims do the shooting? If so, was the gun recovered? Is there a wounded suspect somewhere?

There are a lot of things unanswered.

***It is called “Manhunter”, with William Peterson (CSI)***

You know there are two endings to the movie, don’t you.

In he current MANHUNTER, after the villan is killed they cut to the hero meeting his family at the beach.

In the one shown on SHOWTIME about 1985, after the villan is killed, you see a woman picking up her child to answer the door when the doorbell rings. She yells to her husband, “I’ll get it!”. Then she lets out a gasp and jumps back! A bruised Peterson is at the door.
The husband comes running through the house with a .45 in his hand and places himself between his wife and Peterson. “Hold it!”.
Peterson says he is there to check up on them as they were supposed to be the next victims of the Red Dragon. (Or had he mentally become the red Dragon and was casing the next victim?) Some small talk is made, and he excuses himself. Then we cut to the scene of him meeting his family at the beach.

That movie was based on a real serial killer who chose his family victims via the celluloid film he processed in his job. As you might guess, the real serial killer was murdering severl decades ago, when film was wound through a camera and had to be developed before viewing.

I first learned about this yesterday on another thread. Being from Illinois (Northern; not Central) I was interested. At first the local newspaper had scant information. I speculated that maybe this was a family homicide/suicide. I had little information to go on, but the fact that the man was in construction in this economy sent an alarm bell.

I was soon dissuaded from that by the further story that the police were calling it a homicide and were advising locals to be careful and lock their doors.

All-in-all, I’m beginning to wonder if we have some nut-job sociopath on the loose in the area. But, there I go speculating again. And I’ve already remarked where that got me yesterday...

The one I saw had only the Beach ending.
would like to see the other too.
I thought The long version of “In-a-Gadda-Da-Vida” was quite riveting for a 20-year-old film. Very intense and much more what I would call realistic of the dangers of tracking a madman.

Welcome to FR. Where did you hear that? I’ve checked local news outlets and find nothing.

We’ve been talking about you on the other thread where you posted the same information. No attribution on either post. And these are your only two posts on this forum, both on the same day you sign up.

Another Internet search this a.m. yields nothing later than 4 days ago, and the fact the authorities are looking for a pickup with odd dual exhausts. Something is very smelly about your posts, compounded by the fact you refuse to respond to my inquiry as well as a similar inquiry on the other thread. I suspect you’re a Troll trying to incite. Prove me wrong.
