Few people know that the AMA, like AARP, gets government contracts, which really is the money they area after, not membership fees. In case of the AMA, the AMA is a publishing company for the CPT Codes used by the government and insurance companies to describe services rendered to Medicare and Medicaid recipients and the rest of us. That contract alone is about $60 million for the AMA every year. That is a conservative estimate. The AMA no more represents the interests of docs than AARP represents the interests of seniors.

I think I have been shouting this from the house tops since I retired from the USAF in 1987.

Maybe someday it will resonate. AARP is to Seniors, as ACORN is to America. Corrupt.
