Even though the Border Patrol now reports that almost 1,300 miles of the U.S.-Mexico border is not under effective control, and the Department of Justice says that vast stretches of the border are “easily breached,” and the Government Accountability Office has revealed that three persons “linked to terrorism” and 530 aliens from “special interest countries” were intercepted at Border Patrol checkpoints last year, the administration is nonetheless now planning to decrease the number of Border Patrol agents deployed on the U.S.-Mexico border.

Why don't we just hang a rusty can on a post at the border, and then if any bad guys want to cross they can bang on it until a cop shows up.

That way, at least, we won't be pretending we're actually doing anything down there anymore.

Our nation is being eviscerated by these neo fascists.

May they be the first to suffer the consequences of their folly.

Now, now. We all know those dastardly terrorists came from Canada.

Janet Obimbo said so.

If we have little or no interior enforcement, the border is then nothing more than a gauntlet. Get past it and you’re home-free.

I would not be surprised to find that the Illegal Alien, a "Jordanian" (probably Palestinian), who tried to blow up a "landmark" building in downtown Dallas, came accross that “easily breached” border.

Until it's determined legally that he is an illegal alien, he gets accorded the same rights and treatment as an American citizen, or legal alien, accused of an ordinary crime. Once that is determined legally, things change. He'd be bound for GitMo, if we a President instead of a resident in the White House.

You’re almost there... Illegals are paying between $1,500 to $2,500 to come across the border. Just leave the rusty can on the post and ask for $20 each.

Jim Quinn is right. WE HAVE ELECTED THE ENEMY! They are a cabal of neo-Marxists that have managed to weasel their way to the levers of power in this country and we had better get them out quick or we're finished as a free republic.

It’s like getting rid of lifeguards at the city pool because only 1 person drowned in the past 10 years. Very liberal thinking.

This is from the 2004 Libertarian Party Platform (under Individual Rights).

“We call for the elimination of all restrictions on immigration, the abolition of the Immigration and Naturalization Service and the Border Patrol, and a declaration of full amnesty for all people who have entered the country illegally.”

They’re bringing the amnesty bill back in Jan., so who needs a border patrol?

Libertarians get a lot right - a whole lot. But immigration isn't one of them. They ignore the unlevel playing field that libertarian theory presumes to be non-existent. But it's only non-existent in a completely libertarian world - otherwise it's presumption is dangerously naive. That's why libertarianism only works best internally, where a level playing field can at least be theoretically created. Against international problems though, it would lead to slaughter.

I’m not too fond of their goals of “gay marriage” and adoption and unrestrained military homosexuality and unrestrained abortion including late term abortions among other things either.

A person would literally have to be demonic to defend late-term abortion, so I won't explore that.

But I will say that I find it important that libertarians slam away at limiting government intervention in a variety of areas. Personally, I think gay marriage is one of these - it is a complete snow job over the huge pink elephant in the living room of government involvement in marriage at all. Marriage is spiritual, religious, based on love, private and has zero relevence to government authorization. It is the grossest of all boundary oversteps for the government to "license" a marriage, and it needs to stop.

I also think that there is a whole area of personal privacy rights that extend into healthcare, taxation, child raising and other areas that also include sexual rights which, if properly followed, would protect private adult sexuality of whatever kind while denying any special rights or hate crimes. But the baby's thrown out with the bathwater on that, too.

Just saying, as examples.

I just don't see two sodomites that way and no society in history has either until the post 20th century collapse of western civilization but if you think that America has so declined and distanced ourselves from our roots, then support the party of "demons".

Jews specifically deny Jesus Christ as the Savior. What would you, personally, have the law do to them? How much Christianity should become the law of the land, in defiance of the doctrine of negative rights of the Constitution?

"Demons" look for arguments around freedom - any arguments. As long as "sodomites" are denied state marriage and have to find a church that will accept them, and if they are also denied special rights above and beyond those everyone else has, the rest is none of your business as long as they obey the law like anyone else.

I’ll stick with all of human existence and not feel that I have to redefine a marriage as a couple of homosexual men moving in with each other.
