More than 1,200 Lutherans disaffected by the recent vote favoring openly gay clergy have assembled in Indianapolis on Friday to begin creating an alternative fellowship for conservative Lutherans.
"We intend to initiate a process that we hope will lead to a reconfiguration of North American Lutheranism," said Paull Spring, chair of Lutheran CORE and the retired bishop of the Northwestern Pennsylvania Synod. "The convocation is for all who care for the future shape of orthodox Lutheranism."

If they were remotely orthodox they would have left ELCA a long, long time ago. It’s not like the Missouri Synod (moderates) and Wisconsin Synod (more conservative) don’t exist already with a national scope.
Looks like another denomination took the poison pill. I do agree that “conservatives in the ELCA” must be a microscopic bunch.

How are Missouri Synod Lutherans moderates? I am a Missouri Synod Lutheran and we are very Bible/Christ focused, traditional, faithful Christians.
I too am a Missouri Synod Lutheran. I am, in no way , moderate.
I would have to disagree with your view on the Missouri Synod......I find them to bible based and very conservative......

I had to leave my Lutheran religion several years ago due to their lack of leadership upholding and preaching God’s word.
I have been homeless since =( . It’s now just me and my Bible.
How on earth did you find a bible based church? I went around “interviewing’ pastors, but I didn’t like any of the answers I received.
If they come on over, the leaders of their movement will lose any power they might gain from making their own synod. They will also have to back pedal on other doctrinal issues that they might not be ready to resind. (ie. woman pastors).
These congregations will not join the LCMS. They will form their own organization that will be just a little to the right of the current ELCA.
If he thought that the tiny septuagenarian was going to fold, he was wrong, as mater said goodbye to her church "home" of 30+ years. She was apprehensive over going to the MS church in town, but they were very supportive, and she now wishes she had made the move decades ago.
Has anyone read Martin Luthers “The Estate of Marriage” 1522 which expounded the points he made in the Pagan Servitude on Marriage ?
Its particularly fascinating.
No, what the Lutherans need to do is to come back to the Word of God and follow Him!
