US Welcomes Iran Inspection Offer

Mrs Clinton is in New York for the annual UN General Assembly US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has given a cautious welcome to Iran's announcement that it will open a newly revealed nuclear plant to inspection.

Speaking in New York, Mrs Clinton said it was always welcome when Iran decided to comply with international rules.

The US, France and UK accused Tehran of deception after it admitted to the existence of the facility on Monday.

Iran says the uranium enrichment plant, near the city of Qom, is in line with UN regulations. It maintains it wants atomic power only for the production of electricity.

But the revelations have raised tension ahead of next Thursday's talks in Geneva between Iran and six global powers negotiating over Tehran's atomic programme

Yup, Mahmoud must be rubbing his hands together in anticipation of pulling a double double bluff on our mighty superpower government.

I was just speaking to my Dad about this, he says the plant is empty, why wouldn't they allow inspections.

Anyone know anything about this?

Time to send Jimmy Cater again to negotiate the same kind of agreement that he did with North Korea. Then we can send some aid to Iran and build a light-water nuclear power reactor.

The IAEA will just rubberstamp anything Iran does at this point and Obummer will just do nothing. He’ll just sit by and let Iran run all over him just like the Soviets have, just like the North Koreans have and just like the far left is.

I would like to see a comparison between Iraq's twelve year song and dance with the UN Security Council and many resolutions leading to President Bush sending in the troops, and Iran's current song and and dance.

It appears they operate out of the same playbook - same strategies which buffaloed the UN..

Some enterprising investigative reporter could make a name for him(her)self.

I feel like I’ve just wakened up from a long sleep and it’s 2002 again. Except this time we don’t have any adult leadership.

Here’s what I would like to see happen.

The US revokes the UN charter without offering a reason and kicks them out of the country, gives them notice that they are to vacate the premises in thirty days (no more) and that we will no longer be a member and therefore will no longer fund the UN and we’ll be able to save billions right there.
