The Truth About The Irish Economy (Lisbon Treaty -one world order beginning in EU ?)
Wall Street Journal ^ | 9-27-09 | Derek Scott

The Mad Hatter told Alice that "words mean what you want them to mean." He would have been at home in the European Union, where "no" means "yes" and political propaganda is passed off as information.

If Ireland votes No to the Lisbon Treaty, the EU will continue and Ireland will be part of it, but if they vote Yes the Irish will find they have even less leverage in Europe than today.

In the course of the second referendum campaign in Ireland some extraordinary claims have been made about the economic consequences of voting No: it would frighten investors, cost jobs and condemn Ireland to economic isolation; while a Yes vote, to quote the Taoiseach, is the "critical first step on the path to recovery."

This is but part of a wider piece of propaganda, namely that the EU is responsible for Ireland's economic resurgence and a No vote will put this at risk. Of course Ireland has benefited from fiscal transfers from Brussels, or more accurately from taxpayers in other member states, but for many years this did not prevent Ireland's economy performing badly: slow economic growth, especially given its relative opportunity to catch up; high inflation, large budget deficits and high unemployment.

Foretelling one world order? I have a friend in Ireland, and the propaganda there is vicious to frighten people into voting for this .... thereby hampering if not relinquishing their sovereignty, in effect.

Further consolidation of regional powers is the NWO’s current step in their world government plan and this treaty accomplishes just that. The list of things an individual European nation loses sovereignty of under Lisbon is shocking, most importantly immigration policy, which they plan to exploit to further the third-world and Islamic colonization of Europe and Ireland.

As a french i hope irish will tell a resounding NO again.

A lot of europeans would support and praise them!
French already answered NO to their referendum as the Dutch...Brits will probably give the same answer if Tories organize a referendum.

SARKOZY by-passed french people votes...

It’s a real attack against freedom and real democracy which is going on in europe,USA(with OBAMA and libtards) and a kind of UN big government with G20...A bunch of cynical megalomaniac leaders think that they can grab the power while they have a good grip on business and medias

EU treaty stirs Irish grassroots

###

Excerpt:

It is harvest time in County Kildare, just west of Dublin, and the National Ploughing Championships seem to be fuelling more competitive spirit than the Lisbon Treaty campaign.

There are “Yes” and “No” Lisbon Treaty posters dotted along the rural roads which lead to the show grounds, but not many.

The EU treaty, rejected by Irish voters in June last year, will be put to the vote again on 2 October. This time round, voters generally seem more engaged in the issues.

The treaty is meant to streamline EU institutions to make them more efficient, but opponents say it will undermine national sovereignty.

Farmers and rural folk have flocked in their thousands to the fields of Cardenton for the National Ploughing Championships.

Myriad trade stands exhibit the best Ireland can offer in farming, engineering, food production. And then there is the art of ploughing itself - the sharp blades glint in the sun as they turn the earth in perfectly straight rows.

The credit crunch has battered Ireland, but here you do not get the feeling of recession. There is buying and selling all around - but there are also advice sessions on debt management. The upcoming treaty referendum is not top of the agenda here.

Isolation fears

Agnes O’Keeffe, a teacher from rural Wicklow, voted “No” last time, but now intends to vote “Yes”.

“I have changed my mind. I think we are on the periphery of Europe and can’t afford to be left out or isolated. I’m still not happy with how our own government has handled things like the economy, and I would have concerns especially for our farming community. But those are not reason enough for me to vote ‘No’.”

She also feels that the information last time was confused and that she is much better informed now about Lisbon.

Her friend Kathleen Long, a retired teacher from Donegal, voted “No” before and intends to do so again.

“There needs to be more debate on Europe. I think this second poll has come around too quickly.

“I would have concerns about the Charter of Fundamental Rights. It will only take one court case in Strasbourg to override these guarantees. I believe we are taking power away from our own national government,” she says.

Chef Adrian Bridgeman has switched from “No” to “Yes”

Ms Long also complains that there are too many EU directives.

“There is one in the farming community that states you can only spread slurry at specific times of year and another one which says when you can cut hedges - that for example on country roads is just dangerous. We need common sense, not silly directives.”

Better informed

Kevin Connick, from a rural background in Wexford, is a committed supporter of the Lisbon Treaty.

“If we weren’t part of the EU we couldn’t afford as a nation all we have now, good roads and infrastructure. We are much better off being part of the EU,” he says

As my friend in Ireland related, the money from the EU gave them beautiful upgraded highways and roads; and apparently, folks can be convinced to sell their sovereignty for such a pittance. Pray America never goes down this road.
