Toronto researchers have developed a portable device they say will accurately diagnose prostate cancer in 30 minutes.

The microchip technology, created by a pair of University of Toronto scientists, will be able to determine the severity of the tumours through a simple urine sample and produce quick diagnosis with no need for painful biopsies.

Well, it sure beats the taking of a dozen or so samples of the prostate for biopsy.

Painful biopsy!!! is correct. When I was Dx’d with PCa a couple of years ago, it was after a procedure that I will explain if anyone is interested. Butt, I bet you can guess most of it...OUCH!

The doctor’s “gadget” attempts to diagnose it in seconds - that seem like hours ... where does the gadget in this report have to live for those 30 minutes, he said with a clenched, er, ah, fist - yeah, that’s it, fist. No, wait ... oh, nevermind.

Just had a good friend go through the biopsy. They don’t take one tissue sample, they take ten. I’ll go with the gadget, thanks.

It probably is not hereditary, but if a man lives long enough he will have prostate cancer.

Twelve, actually. And it hurts to sit for a month. OTOH, I’m not going to die of prostate cancer.

Toronto researchers have developed a portable device they say will accurately diagnose prostate cancer in 30 minutes.

And knowing Canada care and Obamacare, there will be a 2-3 year wait for your turn to be diagnosed by this device.

Well, there’s a difference among doctors regarding number of samples, so it could be 10 or 12, or more. There’s usually a little recovery time, but if it hurt to sit for a MONTH, I’d pay more attention to hand size in choosing a urologist next time.

The Canadian Health Care system will only buy 3 devices to save money so there will the a 3 year wait for the test.

You are so correct. Damn, that was the longest counting to 12 I ever had in my life! I wouldn’t wish that little procedure on anybody.
