Rally in Albany Tuesday Over H1N1 Flu Shot Debate
(New York, NY) -- Hundreds of health care workers will rally in Albany Tuesday, angry that they are being made to receive H1N1 flu shots. The State Health Department has made it mandatory that all health care workers get immunized by November 30th. The protestors say their rights are being violated and that they can not be forced to get a H1N1 flu shot. Officials say there will be exceptions for those health care workers who have a personal health issue that would prevent them from getting the shot.
WOR News spoke with Helena Kosorek from the New York Healthcare Concerned Citizens Group. Kosorek and her group will lead a protest that will take place at the State Capitol Building in Albany from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM tomorrow.
Health workers refusing vaccinations for communicable diseases scare the daylights out of me.
Incorrect. The FDA-approved injectable H1N1 vaccine contains inactive (dead) viruses. It is the spray version that has an attenuated virus. Quoth the FDA:

The Influenza A (H1N1) 2009 monovalent vaccines are manufactured using the same approved processes used to produce the seasonal influenza vaccines. Ingredients used during the manufacture of influenza vaccines include substances to help prevent bacterial contamination, to inactivate or “kill” the viruses, and stabilizers to prevent the vaccine from changing. Vaccines that are packaged in multi-dose vials use a preservative to prevent contamination.
The Influenza A (H1N1) 2009 Monovalent vaccines are made from a single influenza virus strain that is an A/California/7/09-like virus. For the injectible vaccines, or shots, the virus is inactivated, using the same processes the manufacturers use for seasonal influenza vaccines. The vaccine administered via nasal spray contains a live, attenuated virus.
People who have a severe (life-threatening) allergy to chicken eggs, or to any other substance in the vaccine, should not be vaccinated.
I agree totally with your distrust of live virus immunizations. Also, I think most harmful side effects from injections come from other compounds used to prepare the vaccine, not the dead pathogen itself. All I really demand from the government is the FREEDOM OF CHOICE, not a dictate.

How about ALL of Congress being forced to take the shots FIRST? You know, set an example.
Of course, verifying they were given the shot and it was the real stuff might be a little tricky.
There would be no way to know for sure who was more vulnerable to the autoimmune reactions and neurological complications. So it’s roulette for everyone who agrees to participate in the experiment. I would NEVER take it.
You can find a new job. New brains, new bodies, and new central nervous systems are not so easy to find.
