In Iraq, some of those underground Saddam bunkers were spread out for miles. Destroying the whole thing or rendering it inescapable was a challenge. I don’t know what Iran has built but I’d think they learned some lessons from their neighbor.
If they’re loaded and going. How about the ones being built?
Even conventional explosives at >100 foot depth probably would collapse them and fracture the rock so badly they’d have to go find a new mountain... ‘-)
Based on my crude measurements of the overfill/burden, those two facilities would be vulnerable to penetrators we already have in inventory. (Take a look at photos of the Iranian centrifuges while Ahmanutjob is visiting them; It wouldn't take much shock to topple those flimsy things...)
Another point is that it mentions "thermobaric" (FAE) loadouts for some of the penetrators -- specifically designed for sustained overpressure in tunnels, etc.
Also, some of the penetrators have "forward-firing shaped charges" that "clear the way" for the primary charge that follows...
As long as we know where their plants are, we certainly can set them back a decade or so with a single night of bombing...
