Sarah Palin, a Soon-to-Be Publishing Phenom (Barracuda goes rogue)
Wall Street Journal ^ | 9/29/2009 | John Fund

Sarah Palin may no longer be governor of Alaska, but she's certainly destined to become a best-selling author. HarperCollins, her publisher, has announced the print-run of her memoir will be a staggering 1.5 million copies -- equal to the print-run of Senator Ted Kennedy's posthumous autobiography published this month. Publishing sources tell me that such a giant run is only ordered up when there is clear evidence from booksellers and surveys of massive interest in a book.

The book, which will be published on November 17, was a crash project. Ms. Palin actually moved temporarily to San Diego after she resigned the governorship in July so she could be close to her collaborator, Lynn Vincent. I bumped into Ms. Vincent, a former editor at the Christian-oriented World magazine, in New York a few weeks ago, where she had parked herself in a hotel close to the offices of HarperCollins while working on the book's final edits.

Ms. Vincent didn't reveal any details about the book, but did acknowledge it will describe Ms. Palin's frustration over her treatment by the staffers she inherited from the McCain campaign after her surprise pick as the GOP vice presidential nominee last year. Ms. Palin was booked on grueling interviews with hostile reporters while talk-show hosts such as Glenn Beck couldn't even get through to her aides. Mr. Beck tells me he was stunned when he picked up the phone one day just before the election to discover Sarah Palin was on the other end of the line. "She explained that she had been blocked from reaching her audience, so she was now 'going rogue' and booking her own interviews," Mr. Beck told me. "I was thrilled she had burst out of the cage they'd built for her and we were finally talking."

Sarah Palin’s Christian co-author

EXCERPT

With word today that the publication date of the memoir by former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has been moved up to Nov. 17, now might be the time to look at her collaborator on the project.

For all the attention paid to Palin’s faith during the campaign, we don’t remember her volunteering much on the subject. But as a co-author, she has chosen an editor with World Magazine, a Christian publication that offers a conservative take on issues and events.

Lynn Vincent has written about prayer in schools, gay marriage and, mostly, abortion for World. She is also co-author of the book “Donkey Cons: Sex, Crime and Corruption in the Democratic Party,” which the ad copy on Amazon.com promises will reveal:

• How corrupt Democrats in Congress outnumber corrupt Republicans by as much as three to one.

• How Franklin Roosevelt, Harry Truman, and John F. Kennedy were elected with the help of the Mob.

• What two eyewitnesses said about JFK’s obsession with hookers.

• How union operatives take from working families to deliver millions of dollars to Democrats.

• How Democrats in the 1990’s covered up a conspiracy one expert called “the largest incidence of obstruction of justice in American history.”

An initial run of 1.5 MILLION? Yeah, you might say so. Publishers aren't in it for the love of the game. And the Dems will be defecating masonry when they go to a second printing.

I don’t care or pay attention to what the left wing slime masters say about her book. I pre ordered two copies today. I hope it sells 10 million copies!! That may make the commies on the left take notice.

I will be buying a copy, and I hope every conservative in the country will do the same. My share of Obama’s $13T in deficit spending over the next decade is $130,000. I can definitely afford $20 (or whatever) to make it even slightly less likely that we will have to endure more than four years under that hate-filled socialist.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if the 1.5 million copies all sold in pre-sales?

How many printings will they go through before we see the actual book? :-)

I’m so pleased for you Sarah, except that I didn’t get to be your editor!

I’d rather spend money to buy Palin’s book to give to my friends and family than donate money to the RNC.

booked on grueling interviews with hostile reporters

That was handled so poorly. They should have started her off with friendly radio talk shows in medium size cities and moved her to bigger ones as she got more comfortable. Then to friendly TV. Screw the libs as long as possible.

The Lynn Vincent books sounds juicy.

Sarah needs to cash in, raise her profile and have some money in the bank to really get out there and get her message out.

The difference is Dems do fake books which are payoffs by large publishing companies. No one ever reads their books with a few exceptions.

Repub or conservative books get read and REALL purschased by people. No one buys the Dem books - it is a scam. they end up going to the dollar store or the paper mill for recycling. Fools did buy Obama’s book, some people bought Clinton books but mainly true believers.

"equal to the print-run of Senator Ted Kennedy's"

To bad old Joe K is dead he could buy up all the copies like he did John's K's first book to make it a best seller and then keep them in the basement and attic the rest of his life.

With our obanomics in play and the worst economy in ages, I think Sarah Palin's new book would make WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS PRESENTS this year. Buy a dozen or so, and give them to all your family and friends.

It's your chance to get back at all the lib friends and family that you have...give a copy of Sarah's book.

Don't forget the "MERRY CHRISTMAS" card...to top off the surprise.

I usually just pick up the political books at the library, but I'm going to buy this one. Just so I can display it prominently on my library shelf and cause my Liberal relatives to blow a gasket.
