Government-Run Health Care by Next Thursday
The Heritage Foudation ^ | September 30th, 2009 | The Foundry

Posted on 09/30/2009 6:37:54 PM PDT by counterpunch

Multiple sources on the Hill have told The Foundry that as early as next week, the Senate could be debating Obamacare. Senate Majority Leader Reid has stated an intention to take the HELP Committee product and merge it with the Senate Finance Committee markup that is expected to be over by this Thursday or Friday. Their plan is to proceed to a House passed non-health care bill to provide a shell of legislation to give Obamacare a ride to the House and then straight to the President’s desk.

Instead of riots, why not just stop working?

All across America, an old fashioned work stoppage. Take a week off, you know. They have been telling us how great it is to lose your job. Stay home, play with the kids. Have a staycation. Eat at home. NO ECONOMY.

That would show them, AND it would NOT give them the excuse to call for martial law.

Use your head, like Mel Gibson said in Braveheart.

Can they do that? It’s never been done before, not even in 1862.

It must be. Hannity hasn’t mentioned it at all on his radio show. (I missed his TV show). He had the toe sucker on today and they both were talking about getting 60 votes vs the nuclear option and how the elderly are against the bill, so the Dems won’t want to go against them, yada yada yada.

I’m not saying it can’t or won’t happen.

But...

We were told they’d just ram through amnesty.

We were told they’d ram this though before the August recess.

I could go on, but you get the idea.

This ain’t over. It won’t be over Thursday, and it may not be over anytime before the Christmas recess. Everyone needs to put away the crying towels and man the phones. Melt the switchboard. Make the phonemonkeys in the Senate offices quit in a cold sweat. Fight’s on!

A group of us discussed this the other day: if there’s a federal state of emergency or martial law decreed, then yes, elections can be cancelled.

That would be something if they were cancelled. As you stated, they were held during the Civil War.

I put nothing against Barry 0 and his gang.

Apparently FR wants to bury it, though.

Bury it? This so called secret plan has been posted few times on FR with many responses.

I simply believe that this so called secret plan by the democrats as revealed in this article is not going anywhere if there is such a plan to begin with. It is simply a stupid plan and those who are against socialized medicine are going to vote against it no matter what and they are not going to be tricked. If this silly trick and procedural maneuver really work, the socialists in Congress would have tried it long time ago.

This article is defeatist and we should not allow defeatism to take us over when the so called public option aka socialized medicine was killed yesterday in the Senate.

With such massive opposition to this, if they do this, it will be their undoing.

Maybe so, but once it passes, it's too late. The American people will have to elect a brand new Congress & a President w/ a vastly different mindset about the proper role of government before it can be repealed. That will take @ least 3 yrs to do, but by then I think it's safe to say that we will already be used to ObamaCare & the public won't be interested in eliminating it.

I suspect you’re right.

For one thing, the plan only works if almost everyone in their caucus goes along. With a few exceptions, every single Dem in both houses is smarter than Reid and Pelosi. I suspect that this is a trial balloon, and if it isn’t, I suspect they will charge forward without noticing (until it’s too late) that no one is following.

The Heritage Foundation article wasn’t posted before.
Knowledge is our only weapon against the Democrats right now.
If given a choice between over-exposure and under-exposure, I’ll err on the side of over-exposure.

Even a super socialist like Harkin who is pushing hard for socialized medicine said that any healthcare bill will not be ready before Christmas but according to this article this is a “secret plan” that we all know about it now where the socialists are going to pass socialized medicine next week using a procedural trick. I do not think so.

With all due respect....BULLSHIT!!!!

This is war, and I mean it. What the hell do they think our brothers, sisters; sons and daughters; mothers and fathers have fought for and died for since the start of this great nation

We Know!!!! FREEDOM!!!!!

And no sorry excuse of a human in Washington is ever going to take that Blood earned Right from me or my family or any of us, without a fight they have never seen before.

God help them, but please God be with those who carry you and the love of your Country strong in their hearts most.

0bamacare won’t kick in until after the 2012 election, conveniently.
However, it will take far more than 3 years to undo any damage this Congress and president does.
So long as Democrats can muster a filibuster, the 0bama agenda and legislative legacy is safe.

In a best case scenario, Republicans can break even in the Senate in 2010, give or take a seat or two.
It would take at least another 2 cycles for Republicans to get a filibuster proof majority, and it would take a truly alarmed and vigilant public for that to happen. By then it would be several years into 0bamacare, and the entire private health system would be eviscerated. We’ll be like the UK, truly unhappy with our government run system, but at the mercy of the government and terrified that we could lose the little bit of healthcare we have left.

This is a recipe for keeping the public under the thumb of government and those who are in charge of it, and the Democrats know it.

I had posted this in frontpage news and breaking, and it was removed from both, as if it is of no importance at all, relegated to the memory hole within the hour.
