Given the steady mythologizing of Hitler and the Nazis I have no doubt that this whole story of the skull will be incorporated into a tale of how Adolph faked his suicide, slipped out of Berlin through the Russian lines, escaped from Germany in the chaos that followed the war, and is now living in time capsule under the arctic ice waiting for the right time to emerge and conquer the world.
That the skull is not Hitler’s proves only that the Russians picked up the wrong skull in 1945. Since loose human skulls were not in short supply at the time this is not surprising.
I think it more likely that Stalin simply claimed the skull as a personal trophy, and the KGB tossed another skull in the box and tucked it away in the archives.
By now, Hitler's real skull is probably a paper clip dispenser on Putin's desk.
So it was Eva Braun who shot herself & Hitler that took poison? I guess that’s possible.
There is a bit of a story here which one might reflect upon. Hitler dies on 30 Apr 1945 (one way or another). The Soviets are entering Berlin and come upon the bodies of both Hitler and Eva. They recover the bodies and for about eight weeks...go through an autopsy procedure (without any Brit or American viewers).
Toward July-timeframe....someone from Moscow calls and orders them to dispose of the body. They take a small crew and go out into a heavily wooded area that is about an hour’s drive southwest of Berlin. They dug the hole and dump Hitler and Eva into an unmarked grave area. Mission accomplished.
Seven months go by....Moscow calls again. Now, they want the Soviet military in eastern Germany to pick up Hitler’s body (with Eva) and bury them on a Soviet Army post (about an hour’s drive from the woods).
I have my doubts that they (the Soviets) were able to find the unmarked grave site, and sought to just find bodies that fit the situation. So some bodies were delivered and a new burial site existed on the Soviet post.
Roughly 20 years would pass, and this post was going to be shut down. Orders again came from Moscow.....they were to dig up the bodies, then burn the bodies (whatever remained) and toss the ashes in a nearby river. The skull fragments are what they retained.
