Military searches for bodies, brings aid to tsunami-stricken Samoas, death toll rises

APIA, Samoa (AP) — Convoys of military vehicles brought food, water and medicine to the tsunami-stricken Samoas on Thursday as victims wandered through what was left of their villages with tales of being trapped underwater, watching young children drown and hoisting elderly parents above the waves.

The death toll rose to 160 as grim-faced islanders gathered under a traditional meetinghouse to hear a Samoan government minister discuss a plan for a mass funeral and burial next Tuesday. Samoans traditionally bury their loved ones near their homes, but that could be impractical because many of their villages have been wiped out.

The dead from Tuesday's earthquake and tsunami include 120 in Samoa, 31 in American Samoa and nine in Tonga. Samoan police commander Lilo Maiava said the search for bodies could continue another three weeks.

Doctors and nurses were sent to devastated villages, and a refrigerated freight container was being used as a temporary morgue for the scores of bodies showing up at a Samoan hospital, officials said.

The United States, Australia and New Zealand sent in supplies and troops, including a U.S. Navy frigate carrying two helicopters that will be used in search-and-rescue efforts. The Hawaii Air National Guard and U.S. Air Force flew three cargo planes to American Samoa that carried 100 Navy and Army guard personnel and reservists.

As the President of the USA ran off to Copenhagen in a swirl of Carbon emission in another part of the word, A US terriory no less and a place that one would think Obama would share some affinity with the people are suffering from a devastating natural disaster and yet no words of hope, no words of encouragement and very little compassion from this White House. Is this strange from a sitting a US President or is it typical and to be expected of Obama?

Is he mad because they voted for Hillary in the Primaries? or Does he just not like people of Polynesian descent?

If American Samoa were attached to the continent, we’d see a grim-faced Obama walking through the wreckage, promising billions for every man, woman, uncertain gender, child, and dog. Then again, if American Samoa were attached to the continent, the tsunami wouldn’t have hit it...but you see my point.

A brutal abortionist gets murdered and there was an immediate response from the White House. An American Soldier was murdered and one was critically injured by a mad jihadist in Little Rock and there was no comment from their Commander in Chief. This guy has abundantly made clear where his sympathies lie.

Just think about the rapture the liberals would have been in if George Bush had flown to Europe after Katrina. Instead, they had to settle for only total character assassination because he overflew New Orleans in Air Force One.

During last big tsunami, did not UN secty General Kofi Anan call the Ass.Press from the slopes of his ski vacation, to complain that President Bush was directing US efforts from his home in Texas and not flying back to an empty DC to manage the crisis?

I don’t think the DESIGNATED, APPOINTED DESTROYER-IN-CHIEF

HAS

any sympathies . . . unless it’s for satan.

He just has blood lust.

And maybe some attraction to . . . servicing in the limo.

Nearly $1bn in US gov’t aid to help third world asian countries build tsunami early warning devices in 2005, and “our own” get drowned. Typical we-are-the-world busy body hypocrisy.

Obama’s Fault....

Why wasn’t there a more timely response? What emergency Tsunami warnings were in place for US territories in Samoa and other Island Territories?

Why has the Obama Admin not done more to fix these things?

Obama is not leading by ensuring our most vulnerable island inhabitants are secure from natural disaster

What does Kanye West have to say now?
