Even as Republicans pummel President Barack Obama's health care proposals, some GOP leaders worry their party is being hurt by a Democratic counterattack: Where is your plan?
Republican leaders chose not to draft their own comprehensive bill, focusing instead on attacking Democrats' plans as too costly and bureaucratic. Some prominent Republicans now fear they are getting tagged as the "party of no," and they want the GOP to offer more solutions to the nation's health care problems.
Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, a potential GOP presidential contender in 2012, said it's time for Republicans "to pivot and say, in addition to emphasizing what we oppose, here are our proposals" for health care. The two parties can agree on some important improvements, he said in an interview Thursday, but Democrats must trim their proposed costs.
Democrats, meanwhile, see a rare chance to go on the offensive in the debate, which has sometimes seemed dominated by fiery attacks on Obama's proposals.
"The Grand Old Party's coffers are empty when it comes to health care reform," Sen. Richard Durbin of Illinois, the Democrats' second-ranking Senate leader, said Thursday.
A new CBS-New York Times poll found that only 14 percent of Americans think Republicans have clearly explained their plans to change the health care system, while 76 percent do not. Obama's numbers were better, though not stellar: 37 percent yes, 55 percent no.
Aware of the criticisms, House Republican leaders have compiled lists of bills and principles that various colleagues have offered this year. But even the whole list combined doesn't match the breadth and detail of the massive Democratic-crafted health care bills that have

OUR PLAN? IT HAS THE SUPPORT OF FAR MORE PEOPLE THAN YOURS DOES, IT IS CALLED THE STATUS QUO. WHEN IT ISN’T BROKE, DON’T FIX IT!!!
This is an idiotic poll conducted to create a story and a line of attack for their Democrat brethern. Look at the stories gestation: a NYT/CBS poll written about by the AP and placed on MSNBC's site. And all four Dem-enabling "news outlets" did not seem to ponder the dirth of stories about Republican plans they themselves have done. You can probably guess what the party breakdown for this poll were.
Thus it is pretty hard for people to know what plans have been proposed by one party if the MSM never cover the story. Conversely it is hard for people to understand Obamacare since Obama never put out his own bill, amendments come and go, and Obama and others have simply fibbed about it...and the same MSM gives Obama/Dems coverage for any goofs.
The bottomline is if you compare the number of stories done by just these four media outlets on the public option (D) vs. tort/interstate commerce reform (R) it would score a 99-to-1 ratio.
Aware of the criticisms, House Republican leaders have compiled lists of bills and principles that various colleagues have offered this year. But even the whole list combined doesn't match the breadth and detail of the massive Democratic-crafted health care bills that have...
Breadth and detail? So then it comes down to one party's plan is more legitimate if it is more complex, the bill is longer, etc.
Here’s what I think: Everyone who attends one of the ‘Can You Hear Me Now’ gatherings, carries at least one copy of one of the Republicans health care reform bill(s).
The ones that no one knows exists.
OR we make many many copies and send boatloads of them to the offices of the lamestream media.
Or both.
I am so sick and tired (sounds like a lead-up to Hillary) of hearing every lib who calls Hannity screech ‘where is the Repub plan? All you Republicans do is try to bring down the president’ and other asinine remarks.
We don’t HAVE one. Because we don’t NEED one. There is no health care crisis. Developing a solution to which there is no problem is right out of the marxist playbook. Don’t fall for it.
Private-sector health care has worked in this country for a hundred years. It still does.
where is your olympics?
I would hope that olympics here in the USA would have been our olympics like in Atlanta when Clinton was President. Is Obama so much more hated than Clinton that some are pulling against our own country like the Dems did against USA when Bush was President. Just asking?
Rich taunts Democrats: Where is your god now?
Yes. Just telling.
What about HR 3400 PMSLSD?
Maybe if you’d correct your rectal-cranial inversion running propaganda for the Democrats, you might acquire more viewers, which could improve your ratings/ad dollars.
He just went WAY down on my favored list for presidental candidates.
Screw him - Sarah Palin needs a better running mate than this bozo.
Right here.....
“But even the whole list (or Republican proposals)combined doesn't match the breadth and detail of the massive Democratic-crafted health care bills that have”
So now we judge the merits of legislation by the pound? A bill that is 10 lbs of paper is ten times better than one that is only 1 lb of paper?
The Sunday shows, which maybe 3 million people watch, pick who gets on them. You really think the Democrat Stegorapher's service is going to invite anyone effect on to represent the GOP except by mistake? They should be on talk radio/Fox News/Glenn Beck every day talking about it. Talk radio reaches about 50 MILLION people rather then waste their time on the Junk Media's 5 million mindless Democrat Party drones
The Republican plan is NO GOVERNMENT PLAN!
Want specifics?
A model public policy guideline for the individual states:
1. Allow total underwriting and cafeteria-pick coverages.
2. Ban community rating mandate.
3. Ban guaranteed issue mandate.
4. Require carrier participation in private sector High Risk Pool association as a condition of licensure.
5. HRP has no pre-x period.
6. HRP funding derived from small fee per each standard risk policy regardless of group, individual or self insured. Also a slightly elevated premium for HRP enrollees.

+++++++++++++++
Hey PMSNBC - you don’t need a ‘massive’ 1017 page monstrosity to do terrible things to America, when you could encact REAL REFORM in 50 or 100 pages...
IDIOTS.

Democrats. Once again YOU LIED!
Queen Nancy knows where the Republican alternative bill is. She is keeping it a secret.
Republican leaders chose not to draft their own comprehensive bill, focusing instead on attacking Democrats’ plans as too costly and bureaucratic.
THAT’S BECAUSE THEY ARE IDIOTIC!
What we need is to pass Tort Reform. Pass legislation that prohibits insurance companies from denying coverage because of "preexisting conditions". AND have a catastrophic health care provision..
