If only Dave had kept it in his Worldwide Pants.
Letterman must be wishing that now, after accused blackmailer Robert (Joe) Halderman said "not guilty" at his arraignment in Manhattan Supreme Court on Friday.
After bigtime defense lawyer Gerald Shargel said ominously there are a lot more skeletons in this closet.
"This story is far more complicated than what you heard this afternoon," said Shargel, who won a big one for the late mob boss John Gotti.

"This story is far more complicated than what you heard this afternoon," said Shargel
Hehehe! I love it. It sure smells quite fool. Letterperv is freaking out and tried to preempt by making a general "admission" on air, hoping that it takes the wind out of the sails.
But considering that there were several affairs and not just one I wonder what the old fungus is trying to hide.
bttt
Although Halderman is an award-winning journalist at CBS' "48 Hours," ......he's a blackmailing scumbag criminal.
No need for the word "Although". In fact, that word is completely out of place and should be replaced with: "In line with the fact that".

Barf!
Letterman is a scumbag and deserves what’s coming to him. Fully.
"Publish and be damned"
written by a Letterman fan
Sounds exactly like the way they treated Rush Limbaugh and his pill addiction. /sarc
I love it when all the people involved in a case like this are scumbag liberal Dims. No matter who loses, it’s a good day.
Did Letterman sleep with Roman Polanski?
(Kinda like what the Catholic Church did for the nasty priests.)
If he did, he didn’t need the Quaaludes...
It was quite macabre to hear the audience laughing at his admissions of immorality. Did they really think it was funny or did they think he was stringing them along?
Since it has been disclosed that recipients of Letterman’s sexual prowess were also apparently recipients of favored treatment on the set, a sexual discrimination charge would not surprise me in the least.
I think he’s in deep macaca.
Of course not...
Letterman is way too old for Polanski....
And how much of this did the execs at CBS know?
Maybe they were taking turns.
Was the audience laughing or was it a laugh track. Seemed to sound identical during both periods of laughter...
Letterman is a disgusting, Ignorant, Boorish Jerk without a shred of decency.
His audience must be complete Morons to applaud the way they did.
I have changed my mind.
Maybe he should twist in the wind for a few weeks, kinda like he did to Sarah Palin, ya carma payback is a beeotchhh.....
“Did they really think it was funny or did they think he was stringing them along?”
In that particular setting, I give the audience the benefit of the doubt. They were expecting humor and were likely anticipating a punch line.
” Did Letterman sleep with Roman Polanski? “
Not a wink.
Yes, but was it an “affair-affair?”
I am sure there will be more. Is the blackmailers only motive money? Not usually. At the end of the day, I wouldn’t be surprised to learn Dave’s peccadilloes didn’t somehow leave a stain in this guys sheets somewhere along the line.
In the case of the Catholic church, the non disclosure agreements were part of a settlement. We pay you x dollars and you drop this and any future lawsuits and agree to never disclose these allegations. Etc.
Unless Letterman already has such settlements in place, I doubt that any court would uphold a preemptive sexual harrassment settlement. The women who “slept” with him received preferrental treatment in work assignments, compared to other employees. In a sense CBS is the victim, since he made business decision to benefit himself rather than to benefit of his employer. It’s no different than if a mid level hiring manager demanded kickbacks from applicants.
Hey Dave! Discovery is a bitch isn’t it.
It also makes me wonder if he married his long time girl friend for reasons other than “I wuv you”...since she can’t be forced to testify.
Lets see, maybe Letterman’s wife was getting boinked by A-Rod while he was boinking his secretaries. Then again, having seen pics of Mrs Letterman, Arod would only boink her with his bat.
Sweet then that it was the bushy hair deal a meal guy!
RICHARD SIMMONS......His long time male love interest.
the chickens have come home to roost...is that how it goes?
The laughing audience was disturbing. But then, maybe it takes that kind of audience to sit through a Letterman show. I doubt most of them are people I’d want sitting next to me at a dinner party.
You infer that if they knew they would do the right thing. There is no doubt in my retired military mind that “CBS execs” are engaging in the same behavior. Their ONLY concern is that Dave had to fess up and that there is significant potential blowback to them.
They’re also probably pissed because they’ll have to put a cork in it—so to speak—until it all “blows” over.
His strength comes right from the heartland, and if Dave was telling his audience things weren’t right, no doubt he caused folks there to pull new levers in the voting booths.
Unfortunately, he’s given the targets of his humor some ammo. The question is, will his fans continue to see him as the decent guy he is?
Human, fallible, a little reckless maybe, but still a decent guy.
GEE LET’S cannonize the dirtbag Letterman right now.....the writer obviously loved what he did to Palin. Scum connects to scum to make alot of scum.
- and the lawyer quoted - he's the scumbag's lawyer...
Oh ok, that makes it all good then.
Could have been a laugh track ....or not!

This will be spun and nothing more than a screenplay being offered to Letterperv.
I never watch this creep any more-but I was up last night (Friday-the day after the bombshell hit) This creep still gave a snide remark about Sarah Palin’s book-(not many people laughed) and he had Larry David (Seinfeld, Curb youe Enthusiasm) who made a remark about Dave’s little problem
Overall, funny as a crutch-I’d like to see him go down—with BO and the Worst lady blowing the Chicago games, this was like Xmas for me.
I stopped watching him after the inappropriate remarks about Palin’s daughter. Before that I wondered about his response, “In my pants!” He used to make fun of the woman, Stephanie, when she was working on the audience participation stuff.
Now that the facts are starting to come out, a lot of the odd stuff makes sense. The man is a predator using his position for advantage.
Bump for more voting.
This needed a barf alert. Decent guy please!!
A lot more skeletons in this closet? And it goes to trial?? Excellent! This could be a slow drip, drip, drip of new info like what happened to ACORN with the videos. And all the while Letterman twists and squirms and his sponsors and network lose interest and money.
Yo, BO, you’ve spent more time with Letterman than with General McCrystal. Notice anything backstage at the Letterman show?
and when did they know it?
BTTT
While Sarah Palin's watching her bank account explode and eyeing the White House in '12 !!
“Although Halderman is an award-winning journalist at CBS’ “48 Hours,” ...
...he’s a blackmailing scumbag criminal.”
Exactly! This is proof positive that the American media is not only biased, THEY ARE CORRUPT! I wonder how many ‘reporters’ have fat offshore bank accounts in regards to ‘secrets’ they are hiding about Obama and the people connected to Obama? My guess is that many of them are getting very rich thanks to Obama’s benefactors.
Of course David Letterman is a scumbag that deserves being outed...but let’s not forget that this leftist reporter was blackmailing him....not ‘reporting’ on him.
