WASHINGTON – A confidential analysis by staff of the U.N. nuclear watchdog has concluded that Iran has acquired "sufficient information to be able to design and produce" an atom bomb, The New York Times reported on Saturday.
The Times report was posted on its website hours after Mohamed ElBaradei, head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, arrived in Tehran for talks on a timetable for inspectors to visit a newly disclosed unfinished nuclear enrichment plant.
Iran, which rejects Western charges that it is seeking to build nuclear weapons, held talks with six world powers in Geneva on Thursday. Western officials said that in the talks, Iran had agreed "in principle" to ship out most of its enriched uranium for reprocessing in Russia and France.
The analysis, according to the Times, says the IAEA "assesses that Iran has sufficient information to be able to design and produce a workable implosion nuclear device" based on highly enriched uranium.

All nuclear devices are implosion....
the trick is uniform implosion...
and the danger is what is getting the uniform!
Alphas (helium nuclei) and betas (electrons) are not very penetrating, as opposed to gammas (high energy X ray). Film in an enclosure or camera would only register the penetrating gammas.
Isotopes from the bomb debris would carry a hazard far beyond the bomb blast.
Is now the time we all hit the sidewalks with our “The End is Near - John 3:16” sandwich boards?

For sure some Rat company Like GE sold them the right Explosive and Machining tools.
The Little Boy bomb was a gun device, not an implosion device. One piece of refined uranium was shot into a second piece having a hole into which the first piece fit.
We’re talking mid-40’s technology. That doesn’t need GE, though that doesn’t rule them out either.
I predict that Israel melts Iran before they can produce a nuke bomb....... With or without the help of any other nation......
True, alphas can be blocked by a sheet of paper...

gammas are not stopping for anything!

When I was in the ME we had a Iranian who when asked about that very thing said the American companies worked through a Euro subsidiary.

I could be wrong, but I say no... I say all nuclear devices have been and are implosion devices!!
The shape of the Little Boy — a skinny torpedo — as shown in pictures seems to bear out the gun internals. The plutonium of Fat Man needed to be compressed. The uranium of Little Boy did not (beyond what the gun would achieve).
