It seems to me every commentator is missing the biggest implication of this fiasco. Obama and his administration had to have really believed they had this in the bag, that it was a done deal. If they thought otherwise, they would have been managing expectations of the press that this was a hard saleThis means that we have a president and his staff who is either too arrogant or too stupid to see the reality of his negotiating position. Either reason is cause for grave concern when he is faced with negotiating with our enemies.
In short, we are screwed.
He needs to be smacked down with a dose of reality! He & his wife need to go live with the Hollywood celebrities, where the general mindset is that everyone in the world loves them & are interested in their personal lives.
He has done nothing but endanger us from the start, with his world apology tour! And now, enforcing ideology of his radical connections! And for God’s sake, who in this country gives a rats @ss about their damn date nights!!!

It's this tabloid mentality that got Obama elected. While the Obama administration does not think itself inept fools and clueless children, it does (and has) depended on the American people to be so.
We are seeing a proliferation of articles such as this in the more conservative press, which basically say: Obama and his gang are clueless and dangerous. We’ve seen a few hints of that, or nibbling around the edges, in the MSM. As their cluelessness becomes more and more difficult to deny, the MSM will finally begin acknowledging reality just to save what’s left of their credibility. Then Obama might find himself in a downward spiral he can do nothing to recover from. At least that’s the hope and change I’m hoping for now.

Obama has a skewed, distorted view of reality due in large part to the fact that narcissists are threatened by and accordingly avoid self-examination (and that includes examination of the self and the world into which the self fits) and they tend to cling to childish and outdated mindsets.
His view is certainly childlike...and that can and will be lead to dangerous missteps in dealing with our national adversaries.
To a person like Obama who is a naive narcissist, all intelligence is going to be "bad" intelligence because he is incapable of understanding what it means to reality. He can only see intelligence as it applies to his peculiar and dreamy/nightmarish parallel dimension of reality.
The Olympics fiasco revealed a very frightening problem with Obama. If insanity is defined by one's failure to come to grips with reality (and even measured by one's distance from reality), our President is seriously unplugged.
I am so tired reading this kind of analysis by supposed pundits, i.e., Obama is just a mistaken idealist. Obama is a radical Marxist who seeks power and control over the entire country. It has nothing to do with creating a utopia.
Obama screwed up when he didn’t appoint an Olympic czar to blame when he couldn’t deliver. laughing!
Socialist utopia has never delivered anything but anger for it’s failure to attain true equality.

I do like your wording...
I agree that his overall project is not based on naivete but on a desire for power and control. However, because he is a narcissist, what he is having trouble understanding is why this cannot be accepted by everybody all over the world, that is, why he's not getting the praise and adulation he expected when he started publicly bashing the US, as president thereof.
He wasn't naive so much as blinded by his own narcissism. He thought that as soon as he made it clear that he despises the US and all it stands for and that as soon as he distanced himself from it and presented himself, with his Muslim-Marxist orientation, as the main project, the world would fall down and worship because this is what most of them wanted. He's puzzled as to why this hasn't happened yet.
The shorter version is..."he's nuts!"
