Why Obama's Boyish Utopia Endangers Us
Townhall.com ^ | 10.04.09 | Kevin McCullough

President Barack Obama is still just a lost boy at his age, and he searches for a world he wished existed. His insistence upon living in his world, though attractive to the uneducated, neglected, and naive, is dangerously heaping hot coals of consequence on the heads of those who know better...

...President Obama believes his good press far too often, trusts his advisors' agreement as a sign of genuine critical analysis, and believes the American people are too unenlightened to truly understand his methods. All three realities push the President further into an altered state of worldview that are having disastrous impact on the life of average Americans.

He wasn't naive so much as blinded by his own narcissism.

IMO, the narcissist is, by his very nature, naive. Most folks, as they grow up, are forced by circumstances (i.e. school/job/mate) to carefully examine themselves and life to rid themselves of their erroneous ideas about life (their naivete).

As a narcissist, Obama can't do that or he would learn that he is just a standard issue human and not a god/demigod.

Somewhere along the line, a young narcissist has to make a choice...he must choose reality (and let that reality pound some humility into him) or he must choose the fantasy that he is a deity and avoid all things that will threaten that view (and remain naive as to how the world really operates). He can't have it both ways.

It is obvious which path Obama chose.

Good analysis. Yes, it’s very clear which path he chose.

This would be a minor annoyance in an acquaintance...that is, you could just avoid him and refuse to play along with his delusion. But the terrifying thing is that this delusional person has power over us all.

It’s been a challenge to decide if he’s just an ego-driven leftist or a completely incompetent man who’s out of his depth.

Your “spam point” reconciles the two.

The Olympics debacle is illustrative of the driving forces of this administration.

We’re in for some messes that will be very tough to untangle.

And another quality they have in common, celebs think they are omniscient and assume the public wants to know their opinion on every matter, particularly politics. Put a cork in it!

Bambi couldn’t manage a hangnail, yet he presumes he can “fix” healthcare and the economy. Fix it into his Marxist world view, YES HE CAN!

The only reason Obama went to Copenhagen is because the Daley machine forced him to. Chicago had invested $50 million in preparing this bid. They had a lot riding on this gambit.

I for one thought that there was no way that Chicago would get the bid, making it the third time in 32 years that the Summer Olympics would be held in the US. And maybe most Americans don't understand how loved Brazilians are in the sports world, mainly due to their enthusiastic and warm fans who support Brazilian football, the most respected and successful in the world's most popular sport. Pele was worth ten Obamas when it comes to convincing the IOC to vote for Rio. And the fact that South America has never hosted the Olympics really made it no contest.

Chicago received 18 votes out of 94. I just don't believe that the Chicago team did not know generally how the vote totals stood. Obama was the Hail Mary pass. It didn't work. Obama was the tool of the Chicago political machine and he went on this suicide mission to placate them even if it meant humiliating himself and the office of the President. That is the scary part to me. Who else has leverage over this guy?

"This means that we have a president and his staff who is either too arrogant or too stupid to see the reality of his negotiating position."

And now we getting set to commence to start to get more serious about a move in the direction of coming to an understanding of allowing a broader observation of and inspection of a part of the means that will be used to kill millions.

Yep!

That quality in a President is scary.

BTW, it occurs to me that there is another type of human that chooses naivete over reality (yet they know full well that they personally aren't deities).

Those are the folks that cling to fantasy because they simply refuse to grow up. They believe that, if they ignore the painful realities of life, it will somehow go away.

We know them as "liberals"...

Chicago received 18 votes, but we probably bribed 30+ countries, thru Jarrett’s White House olympics office—and 30+ countries are probably swearing now that THEY voted for us.

0bama cannot negotiate. If he can't get it with charm or coersion he is up a creek.

And he believes far, far to much in his "gift." He thinks everything he talks up is going to happen.

I agree that it probably wasn’t his idea, and I suspect that it was at the behest of Valerie Jarrett (and, by extension, the Chicago mafia) that he did this. However, I think he really did believe that his presence alone would be the one thing necessary to guarantee it.

I doubt that Obama comes up with many ideas - or any ideas - on his own, but he probably selects which ones he likes based on how well they fit with his deluded perception of himself. I think he’s really shocked that the IOC didn’t go along with this.

Valerie Jarrett was in line to be the Olympics Czar in the WH the minute Chicago got the Olympics.

Shocked? I don't know. Eugene Robinson, a WP sycophant, wrote a column a few days before Obama went. I thought when I read it that Obama and the WH already knew that it was a futile trip. Here it is: Obama's Display of Immodesty?

Money quote, "And, anyway, my bet is that Rio gets the gold. South America is way overdue to host the games, and this is Brazil’s moment.

Bambi would never have gone to Copenhagen if he hadn’t thought he was going to “win.” He has never, ever done anything in his life where he was not guaranteed a win...one of the reasons that his early academic career is hidden is that he is not very smart and didn’t do very well, and until he was picked up by powerful people he didn’t have a lot of wins.

He got his positions in Chicago through fraud and the support of powerful people, and I think you could say he got the Presidency the same way. He doesn’t take risks because his construct is not strong enough to stand up to them.

I think he’s crazy and I think he truly believes the Obama Messiah Myth. That’s why I think he’s stunned...and enraged. We shall see what he does next.

Disagree. He went because he had no choice. The "powerful people" to whom he is indebted, called in their marker. You go or else something bad may happen.

He got his positions in Chicago through fraud and the support of powerful people, and I think you could say he got the Presidency the same way. He doesn’t take risks because his construct is not strong enough to stand up to them.

The risk in this case was the consequences of saying no to the Daley machine, which had $50 million in the game. Obama has a lot of people who can make life difficult for him. Bill Ayers, for example, could divulge exactly what kind of relationship they had, including his role in Obama's autobiography. I am sure Axelrod has a few things that he can hold over Obama's head. Obama has struck a Faustian bargain with the Daley machine.

I predict that there are other failures that will totally blindside the Obama team: The failure of Cap and Tax, The health care bill's failure to pass, The failure of most Democrat incumbents to retain their seats in 2010, and finally, Obama's humilitating, crippling defeat at the hands of Sarah Palin in 2012.
