Ten US soldiers killed in Afghanistan

Ten American troops were killed at the weekend in two surprise attacks that caused alarm in Nato’s US-led coalition.

In one, hundreds of insurgents attacked a pair of isolated outposts in eastern Afghanistan, killing eight US soldiers and several Afghan policemen in the deadliest battle in 15 months. Scores more Afghan policemen were reportedly captured by the Taleban.

In the other an Afghan policeman opened fire on the American soldiers with whom he was working in central Wardak province, killing two and injuring three.

It was unclear whether the policeman was working for the Taleban or simply ran amok but the attack fuelled the distrust that many Nato soldiers already feel for the Afghan security forces that they are supposed to be working with and training as part of the coalition’s eventual exit strategy.

I wonder if some of these losses aren't directly attributable to our new and more reserved use of air power. I hope not.

"Gee, I hope the Obamas really enjoyed their evening out."

Don't forget the golf. Bush stopped playing golf because he didn't like the message it sent to the families that had loved-ones engaged in combat. I stopped counting Obama's golf outings at 10. He must be well past that number now.

Reflecting on the Leftist MSM during the Bush years, and their daily count of the dead and maimed in Iraq.

Wondering where those Transylvanian’s are today that we get the count from abroad?

Remember this?

“I hate the war but support the troops.”

Probably blowback for killing their leader last month.

The Taliban were probably desperate top get a big attack in before the winter.

We should counter immediately. Throw everything we got - all over the place.

That is my question and my hope. You can't put men out there in small numbers in isolated outposts unless you are going to give them prompt and effective air support.

-“You don’t trust anybody, especially after an incident like this. You fear they may in some way be connected to the Taleban,”

-"“I guarantee the Taliban will be back inside a week. If you can’t hold the village then what’s the point in going in there in the first place?”
- Captain Albert Bryant, commanding officer of C Company in the 1st Battalion,
32nd Infantry Regiment, 10th Mountain Division

Our guys are warning us. This is another 'Vietnam' if we don't put the resources and Rules of Engagement into place to allow them to fight!

It's time to BRING THEM HOME - if we are not willing to do it RIGHT!!!!

I thought the same thing about the lack of air support. If these guys called in air support and didn’t get it because of the ROE. This makes me sick. Meanwhile, the Coward in Chief is flying here and there on the tax payers’ money, playing golf, going out on his anniversary date, etc., etc.

Dat long legged mack daddy ain’t got no time for a bunch of dead Americans killed in Afghanistan. He be jetting to Denmark, dining in Georgetown, and he ain’t got no time to discuss the Afgan situation. It be the mack daddy’s war, and he can pull the troops out... as he promised prior to the election. This be a waste of American lives, pure and simple.

Mack daddy decreed that his personal issues overshadow any lives lost.

We’ll probably pull the troops out. President Obama will order us to pull the troops out probably around ‘11 just in time for total withdrawal by the election season in ‘12.

Gee, I wonder if the Taliban found out that our Commander-in-Chief can't decide whether to send more troops?

I wonder if a strong statement of power by the C-in-C would have staved off this attack?

I guess we'll never know. Now what does Obama think of posting pictures of the coffins as they arrive home?

(Newser) – Back when George W. Bush was president, the media made a big fuss about the administration’s refusal to allow the press to photograph soldiers’ coffins, saying it hid the true cost of the war. President Obama lifted the ban in April, and the media flocked to snap shots of that first returning coffin. And then? Then they swiftly lost interest, notes Byron York of the Washington Examiner. From here.

aren’t Taliban the same as Al Qaeda for all intents and purposes?

Jones claims there is less than 100 al qaeda in the country....so if that is true..what about the taliban that want to kill us too

Yep. The Taliban is launching a major offensive now just before the winter and they know that we have a weak President. They are winning the war strategically.

In a year the Taliban reconquers Afghanistan, there will be 1,000 Al-Qaeda agents in the Taliban Government. In 5 years, there will be around 10,000 Al-Qaeda agents with the reestablishment of the terrorist training camps throughout the country.

For once, try running this Country instead of trying to rule the world. This is out of control.
