Maybe because until recently the GOP ran the justice department. We want them to steal all of the money they can. it is far better for it to be stolen than used-against us.

The statute of limitations regarding embezzlement STARTS when the loss is discovered, so if there is more missing money that is just being found, the clock starts ticking all over again on the amount being currently found to be missing.
As a life-long bookkeeper, who was often brought in to clean up messes, I have been behind 2 different embezzlements. Clock starts when embezzlement is discovered.
This might put the original perp back into indictment territory.
