Sessions posts "Fire Nancy Pelosi" petition

From the National Republican Congressional Committee -- the folks who brought you the exhortation to put the first female speaker "in her place" -- comes a new "Fire Nancy Pelosi" petition designed to pump up the conservative base.

"[T]his time she's putting our national security at risk," writes NRCC Chairman Pete Sessions (R-Tex.), on a day when much of the House leadership was planning to vote against a major defense authorization bill because it contains new a bias crimes provision to protect gays and lesbians.

"Once an advocate for a new strategy to ensure American victory in Afghanistan, she is now backpedaling on her stance and actively going against advice from a four-star general. Apparently General Pelosi believes she's better suited to craft our country's military policy," Sessions adds, referring to Pelosi's criticisms of Gen. Stanley McChrystal, the top U.S. commander in the country.

The committee, appealing to a base that disdains the San Francisco Democrat, is firing up a new anti-Pelosi petition site geared at getting 204,996 supporters -- to match the 204,996 votes the speaker received in last year's landslide re-election back home.

Obviously, these guys know what they're doing politically. But the tone is getting really personal and Democrats are increasingly willing to accuse the committee of misogyny, while Pelosi dismissed their approach as "sad."

Nonetheless, the NRCC is sticking to its guns, shooting back: "Rather than deflecting from the real issue at hand and refocus on defeating terrorists, Nancy Pelosi would rather make party politics a higher priority than our national security."

She has a better chance of being re-elected than being fired.

Just did it...thanks!

Pete's my Congressman...was very gracious to us when we visited his office in DC a few years ago.

Is this the same Sessions who was reported to have given campaign funds to a RINO yesterday in a primary against a conservative? Maybe he should stick to doing useful conservative activities, and cut the meaningless grandstanding.

This kind of comment can only help Nancy get a bigger vote in San Fran.

I’m all for her being ousted. But signing my email address is only a way to get my email address to ask for money.

They’re not asking for an e mail address - just a phone number.

Use Nancy Pelosi’s office # - it’s (202) 225-0100

I’d gladly provide the matches and kindling. Oh, not that kind of fire? Nevermind.

"...willing to accuse the committee of misogyny.

The committee needs a woman on it who can tell Pelsoi to STHU and stop using our troops as her personal political football.

"She has a better chance of being re-elected than being fired."

Not if the Dems lose their majority.

She needs to be tied, cheek-by-jowl, to every single House Democrat.
