Petition to Bring Our Troops Home

Letter and Petition to bring our troops home.

TOPICS: War on Terror
KEYWORDS: afghanistan; obama; sourcetitlenoturl; wot
I used to believe in the mission, but not when the rules of engagement favor the Taliban and not when we're sustaining more casualties than ever. The Afghan government is corrupt, the election was full of fraud and Afghanistan remains the #1 producer of heroin in the world, producing 90% of it.

I've heard rationale that we can't leave Afghanistan because of the Taliban's proximity to Pakistan's nukes. Yet, we are doing NOTHING to stop Iran who quite possibly within months or the next year will have them.

Our sons and daughters are being killed by Afghan police and military--or at least they're wearing the uniform. Air support, artillery and mortars are denied until we are absolutely certain we won't inflict civilian casualties. In the meantime, our soldiers pay the ultimate price for such delays.

If we are unwilling to fight full out, then what is the point. I say get out. With the money we save, we can buy intelligence and use drones and special forces to thin the ranks of the Taliban. If we stay a few more years, sustain more casualties, more permanent disabilities, and say we win--what did we win? We win by there not being anymore training camps? So they'll crop up somewhere else. We win by keeping Pakistan's nukes safe--for how long. If the Palestinians can freely elect a terrorist government, couldn't Pakistan?

Our strategy should be to keep the U.S. safe. To protect ourselves from enemies both foreign and domestic. China, Russia and Europe must be absolutely gleeful that broke America continues to be so stupid as to waste lives and treasure--to continue to borrow to stay on the same course.

Bout two days ago I came to the conclusion that even if (and that's a big if) we do get extra troops there the rules of engagement are so stupid they may as well not be there at all.

Fight to win or don't fight at all, and Obama has no intentions of winning.

Probably get flamed but I've moved into the bring them all home now camp.

Might as well bring them home since we don’t have any clear objective. All we are doing is fooling around and not really fighting war on terror. Demoralizing our troops.

I’m all in favor of the troops doing there work, but not like this. Obama is just going to let more die without accomplishing one thing and cut deals with the Tablian.

I can completely understand the frustration, but I don’t think our focus should be on bringing the troops home. I believe that they want to stay and continue the fight... try telling a marine to lay down his weapon and come home. I think America needs to open their eyes and see who we really have in the white house. America needs to stand up for the troops that fight for our safety every day. We as Americans need to do anything we can to make sure our men and women in uniform get the resources and attention they deserve to do their jobs effectively. What America really needs, is leadership brave enough to say America was not formed to be the worlds best friend in times of hardship, America will not sacrifice freedom for popularity, AND... America is not sorry for what we have done and what we have to do.

My 25 yr. old son just enlisted in the Army.I served in the USAF from 1969 - 1973 and my father was a career Army officer who was an advisor in Viet Nam in 1960 - 61.When politicians dictate warfighting due to policy considerations / and or lack of spine, our military suffers and our best & brightest die needlessly. As the saying goes “Go big or get out”.I think the next 3 years will determine whether we survive as a nation.

Me either. I did vote in the poll on his home page though.

SEND! MORE! TROOPS!

That's what the General asked for. That's what the General should get.

If we are going to be there, and I strongly feel we need to be there, then GIVE THE GENERAL WHAT HE SAYS HE NEEDS.

If we will not give him what he needs, then by all means pull every last soldier out. And then be prepared for the 9/11 like strike on this country that will happen, without no doubt.

I’m with you.

CALL THE WHITE HOUSE AND DEMAND HE SEND THE TROOPS, MONEY AND TOOLS NEEDED! 1-202-456-1414

Contact your Representatives at congress.org and tell them SEND MORE TROOPS. Put in your zip code, it will give you the choice of your state and federal Representatives.

I agree Freddd, but we must also demand Rules of Engagement (ROE)that allow to fire upon the enemy in order to protect, overcome and win the damned thing. Otherwise, I want them home too, we’ll have to fight terrorism in our own streets it looks like given this administration, at least our vets can show and teach us how to be effective.

I can’t understand why you want to give a blank check of American blood and treasure to Obama. Don’t you realize that he will only use it for his own selfish purposes?

I had two back to back tours in Iraq and would have gone back for a third if asked. After seeing the downside of the mass graves, the upside of seeing purple dyed fingers after elections, I knew what the mission was. I was proud of helping end the filling of the mass graves and helping with elections and the comradship I developed with the Kurdish soldiers so there was no doubt of our mission. With that said, I have heartfelt sympathy and prayers for our military in Afganistan because of the lack of leadership from the current white house occupant. He is a Beta male with the resolve and leadership ability of a wet noodle. I can put myself in the position of a squad leader going out on patrol risking my life and those of my men for what??? The rules of engagement are the same that that we followed in Iraq but at least in Iraq we had adequate back up. Unless the current white house occupant “grows a pair” and defines the mission coupled with adequate supporting troops, the guys and gals there are basically on a mission designed to promote maximum use of body bags. The rules of war as outlined by Sun Tzu must be adhered to or we will sacrifice the lives and bodies of our brave military and their sacrifice will be in vain. God help our military and since I have a personal attachment to them my prayers for them. God help our military. JM

Thank you for your service. I read about the mass graves and believe we did the right thing. Now it’s up to the Iraqis. But at least Iraq has a central government and they’re not splintered into thousands of tribes.

I am for a huge surge, not 40,000-—even more. But I read that they would need 500,000 troops to seriously make a difference in Afghanistan.

The rules of engagement are getting our boys murdered. How do we save our kids? How do we make the politicians do the right thing? Unleash our forces and use our technological superiority. If they are unwilling to do that, get our boys outta there.

The left has always been anti war. Maybe they believe you can talk your way out of a problem. I just think how amazing it would be if parents and patriots voiced their opposition to the war in Afghanistan on the basis of the Rules of Engagement. Still, I keep coming back to what do we win if we win?

After the current white house occupant was awarded the “Nobel Peace Prize” I have faint hope that our military will be given the force to achieve victory, a word that this POS does not like to use. My son in law was just deployed over there, and I fear for his safety. I did not voice my concerns to his wife, my daughter but she knows what the score is. Pray for the USA an our Military. Regards, JM

I worry my son and boys I’ve come to know are also going to deploy. I am no anti war person—but it’s the rules of engagement and knowing this president has no desire for victory that makes me question why continue the charade. It will end in a draw. So bring them home.

It is indeed a tragedy that the current white house occupant is so ignorant of history and has NO compassion for our deployed troops that he is willing to see them sacrificed to his ego especially after getting a worthless “Nobel Peace Prize”. If he does not provide additional troops as requested from his field commanders their blood will be on his worthless hands but I sometimes wonder if that is not his goal. The rules of engagement are a joke and are a litany of things you could not do in order to defend yourself in combat. My wife ran across them when she unpacked my things when I got back home from Iraq. Needless to say she was totally disguested. My fervent prayers are for our troops who are in a rudderless ship getting killed for no reason that I can see. I am so POed at the voters that elected this worthless POS. JM
