12 guage is too big for home defense (and it hurts too much)
I like a 20 guage and I am even looking at some 410’s I like. suitably ‘adabpted’ they make a handy and easy to handle persuader that will not put big holes in your walls
For HUNTING that is a different story- turkey and deer with a 12 guage
12 ga is easier to find both shotguns and shells. Also, when you are up against dangerous game, use enough gun.
Suit yourself, but make sure you have something, soonest.
People need to be packing. Having a shotgun would help, even when you sleep. But it needs to be accessible. I live in Memphis, TN and even sleeping, I have have my shotgun ready. This bedside gun rack type thing called a Backup is good — better than under my bed. There is a video on YouTube that shows the rack in use here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3GXYAzh8EQ I think that within a second or less I could pull out the gun and be prepared to protect my home.
