Obama points to growing momentum for health-care reform (RINO's)
Market Watch ^ | Oct. 10, 2009 | Kate Gibson

President Obama on Saturday urged Congress to "rise above the politics of the moment" and adopt healthcare legislation, saying the effort has gathered momentum in recent days, with Republicans, including California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and former Senate Majority leader Bill Frist, endorsing reform.

The Congressional Budge Office found the Senate Finance Committee's version of health care would make coverage affordable for millions now without it, "without adding a dime to our deficits," said Obama in his weekly radio address. Read more about bill's price tag.

When Schwarzenegger and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg earlier in the came out in support of health-insurance reform, they joined an "unprecedented consensus" that also includes Frist, a cardiac surgeon, and Bob Dole, like Frist a former GOP Senate majority leader, Obama said.

"These distinguished leaders understand that health-insurance reform isn't a Democratic issue or a Republican issue, but an American issue that demands a solution," the president said.

Written by Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus, D-Mont., the proposed legislation is expected by to pass the committee, which consists of 13 Democrats and 10 Republicans.

House and Senate negotiators would then need to come up with a single bill to send to Obama's desk for his signature.

Public opposition to the reform favored by Obama has dropped sharply in recent weeks, according to the latest poll by the Associated Press

"These distinguished leaders understand that health-insurance reform isn't a Democratic issue or a Republican issue, but an American issue that demands a solution," the president said.

“when we take control of this party one of our first orders of business has to be a defined, clear process for kicking people out”

Heck, I’d be happy if the rinos would just follow the GOP party platform, which they don’t. One example, the platform says NO AMNESTY....it’s time for them and US to admit the party has been taken over by leftists.

Here's a video of Bill Frist now trying to explain his position saying no bill is "there" for him yet. (So WHY did he say he'd vote for it?)

Anyone who has signed on to this criminal act shall pay at the ballot box! I’m sick of talking and no ones listening!I will vote for the homeless man on the corner before I waste my vote on any of these criminally pathetic egotistical arrogant parasites. How do you support a bill that has not been written or if it has they refuse to read it themselves or post it so WE THE PEOPLE can read it. THEY WORK FOR US , WE GIVE THEM THAT PRIVELEGE AND WE WILL TAKE IT AWAY.

To all the knuckle-heads here at the FR who insist on a third party...go right ahead. You’ll ensure Obama and the Dems stay in power for a very long time!

To those of you who either sat out or voted for one of these third-party choices this past election...thanks! You helped elect BHO!

The stupidity of some in our own party will end up doing us in!

John McCain and the Gop elected Barak Obama and just like all country club repubs, you make excuses and blame someone else.
I voted for McCain...and I’ll be ashamed of it the rest of my life.

Personally if these are the republicans they are holding up I’d laugh n their faces. Not a single one of them are really republicans they are more like conservative democrats. There is no growing support any where I see and the anger is on dispaly everywhere you go. People are mad and the dems just don’t get it.

The Constitution Party headed up by anti-American Ron Paul disciple Chuckie Baldwin? How many votes did he get last November, 200,000?

Do you have any actual non-ancedotal evidence that people are not turning back to the Republicans? From everything I see, 2010 will be a smashing Republican victory.

Thanks for the courtesy ping.

So you refuse to help defeat Obama. You don't even like Sarah because of her stance on immigration. Admit it: no one will ever be conservative enough for you.

In the end, maybe it is best if these malcontents leave the party and go elsewhere (or nowhere). All they will do is totally disenfranchise themselves from any political representation. The Republican Party will have no trouble making up the numbers after nearly two years of an Obama presidency. Being rid of the extremist end of the party will make it even easier to garner new support.
