What did I tell ya? Lindsey Graham signs on to cap-and-tax
Michelle Malkin ^ | Oct 11, 2009 | Michelle Malkin

I hate to say “I told you so.”

But, well, I told you so.

GOP Sen. Lindsey Graham has signed on to the Democrats’ massive green redistribution scheme masquerading as a planet-saving, national security-enhancing “energy independence” scheme.

Can John McCain and the rest of the Climate Change Republicans be far behind?

Now, the announcement of Graham’s alliance with Big Government Democrats. In the NYTimes, natch.

Kerry and Graham go on to argue that we must buy into their plan because the EPA regulatory power grab will be worse. It’s greenmail: Sign on or else the out-of-control bureaucrats (and the unaccountable energy czar Carol Browner, they fail to mention) will make life even more hellish for businesses and taxpayers.

But who’s to say the EPA and Browner wouldn’t go further anyway even if the Senate bill passes?! Evidence and dissent haven’t stopped their job-destroying eco-crusade before.

Sen. Graham was too busy basking in the glow of bipartisanship to comment.

God save us from bipartisanship.

Follow the link to read all of Michelle's column. Excellent but disappointing. Lindsey, you're a traitor to all the South Carolinians who voted for you last year.

.....Lindsey Graham is a weak Southerner....reminds me of Jimmy Carter....a while back he was dating Laura Ingraham...you’d think he would have gotten some moral courage from hanging around with her.

Further confirmation of what I’ve been saying in many comments on FR and elsewhere in recent years: not ONE RED CENT to the republican party until they get rid of some t***s which are stinking up the joint. Support candidates, not the useless gop.

The real outrage of this story is that it has now become an accepted norm to regard the “EPA” as a sovereign government entity. The very concept that the United States Senate would shape its legislative agenda in order to bow before a non-elected administrative body should be repugnant and frightening to all Americans.

Need their be any other proof that the EPA has become a rogue agency and needs to be disbanded.

The other frightening part of it is that its a load of rubbish, because the EPA would be tied up in court for years before it could impose any such regulation (if ever). In fact, this would be the best thing that could possibly happen because it would force the truth out into the public arena - in court.

In other words, this is nothing but an excuse, a hypocritical fig leaf.

Why can’t they grow spines?

Because, at least in Pandsey's case, they are spineless POS.

"Kerry and Graham go on to argue that we must buy into their plan because the EPA regulatory power grab will be worse."

An admission by these politicians that they don't and won't do their oversight duties to reign in out of control bureaucracies. I'm a firm supporter of replacing ALL of these compromising Constitutional violating traitors. They are ALL selling this country out and need to go! This just torques my jaws to see something like this to happen!!!!!! I can't really say what I would normally say or I'd be banned for month's on end.

If the only alternatives are Cap&Trade and EPA doing the same thing. Then it doesn’t matter, The economy of the old Western World is finished. And we will not produce sufficient revenue to maintain the most powerful military on the planet or to do the R&D to keep us ahead scientifically. I wonder which empire USA will be a client state of in 10 years or 20.

because the EPA would be tied up in court for years before it could impose any such regulation (if ever).

I'm not sure that is correct. Bush fought the EPA over classifying CO2 as a "pollutant", and finally lost in court last year.

The EPA can do anything it wants to control CO2.

Since EPA was given the mandate to regulate CO2 as a pollutant EPA can regulate it down to zero emissions. That would make all human beings in the country criminals subject to arrest and imprisonment.

The very concept that the United States Senate would shape its legislative agenda in order to bow before a non-elected administrative body should be repugnant and frightening to all Americans.

It is to this citizen. The EPA is however a straw man for the politicians that allows them to abscond on their responsibilities. Just like the concept of mandatory government spending. Jefferson warned us of this.
