I don't suppose anyone on this forum can explain to this layman what is actually going on here? Is the uniformitarianism cartel, as they are typically wont to do, inserting its bias into this research or is it legitimate blowback? In this particular instance it appears legit but as a layman, I have all but lost any confidence in the Scientific Community’s ability, or maybe more likely desire, to pursue unadulterated science. It seems the more I see of the process the more disenchanted I become with it, but whadda I know. Has political Science as a term has been co-opted and is it a more accurate description of the modern scientific method? Agendas "Я" Us??? Say it ain't so...

Perhaps the most famous quote from Henry Kissinger: “Academic politics are the most petty form of politics, because the stakes are so low.” He had the wrong of course — the stakes in politics are always the same, power. :’)
This paper could be part of a broader back-burner struggle regarding the origin of corn (zea mays).
