SEOUL (Reuters) - North Korea has fired five short-range missiles off its east coast and declared a "no sail" zone in the area from October 10-20, South Korea's Yonhap news agency quoted a government source as saying on Monday.

South Korean government officials were not immediately available for comment.

(snip)

It was not clear whether these were routine military exercises.

But they coincided with local media reports that the United States is planning to send its aircraft carrier USS George Washington to the South Korean port of Busan on Tuesday.

Bad move - a carrier in port is meat on the table, compared with a carrier at sea.

Sheesh, how many times to we have to say this on FR Korea threads until we sound like broken records.

It DID happen under W.

Read your history.

And for the record while we are on it, FYI, I am a Conservative Republican.

I remember some saber-rattling — enlighten me (seriously, if I missed something I want to fill it in).

This is what the bad actors of this world will always do when they sense weakness.

They see that 0bama is the weakest President in the history of the US so they will act on the expansion of their own evil interests. And for the record - 0bama can just forget about ANY negotiated elimination of Nuclear Weapons.

When American blood runs due to this dysfunctional balance of power then it will be all on 0bama’s hands.

He fails to understand that American Strength is a deterrent that prevents loss of life - he will regret the day he scorned US power, those who have been entrusted with it, and its use.

This never would have happened under W.

Two rounds of North Korean missile tests were conducted on July 5, 2006. The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK or North Korea) reportedly fired at least seven separate missiles.

“North Korea has fired five short-range missiles off its east coast and declared a “no sail” zone in the area from October 10-20”

this “no sail” zone is in effect for another week or so. I would assume we will see more of this from the NKs this week

Pyongyang launched modified Scuds, Nodongs, and a Taepodong missile (long range) all in a volley of fire throughout the day on 4th of July US time during the W Administration because of his change of policy from one of hardline (primarily first term) to that of appeasement (highly representative of his second term and also the post 2006 elections), under the direction of Condi Rice and Chris Hill at State Department, and under the panoply of the so-called “Six Party Talks”. Kim Jong il did it because he knew they could get away with it and wanted more concessions—which they got. They would not have dared tried in the 2002 or 2003 time frame particularly I will grant.

It was President George W. Bush who properly labeled Saddam’s Iraq, the mad mullah’s Iran and North Korea as an ‘Axis of Evil’, but he wasn’t able to take out more than 1/3rd of that Axis, as he chose to allow Iran to continue to kill our troops in Iraq with Iranian-manufactured IEDs, talked a good game about not allowing Iran to have a nuclear weapon, but did jack-squat to prevent it, and that leads us to North Korea where it was the BUSH Administration that chose to continue with the Clinon-Albright approach of ‘jaw-jaw’ with Pyongyang, creating the absurd ‘Six Party Talks’ that North Korea abandoned, all to the chagrin of the State Department’s pro-Pyongyang apparatchik, commonly known as ‘Comrade Chris Jong-Hill’, who has faithfully served as both apologist and advocate for Kim Jong Ill for many years.

There was a window of opportunity for GWB to take out both the Iranian and North Korean nuclear threats, and that was in the latter half of November 2008, and December 2008 when there wasn’t a damn thing anyone could do to prevent surgical air strikes from inflicting massive damage, if not completely destroying the nuclear aspirations of those two rogue terrorist states.

Unfortunately for America and the world, GWB was already packing his bags for Legacyville Texas.

Thanks George, for everything.

They want stuff. Judging from the major missile launch on Obama’s watch, about five months into it, they will be up to similar antics. And they will get exactly what they want from Washington.

I might add, they are getting a two fer. They are once again able to test the relatively new Obama Administration, and they are testing the really new, center-left Japan Administration of Prime Minister Hatoyama.

Of course, everyone will say "naught boy! stop that!" but behind the scenes they will cut deals to make DPRK behave and reward their bad behavior, and Pyongyang will know what it already knows...that Washington, and Tokyo, are APPEASERS. Clinton. W. Obama. Same difference. They will all get jacked around seven ways to Sunday by the very, very skillfull Pyongyang professionals.
