Zebras died of hunger earlier this year during the Israel-Hamas war
GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip - Gaza City zookeepers have found a creative way of drawing crowds to their dilapidated zoo by painting their donkeys. The Marah Land Zoo's only two zebras died of hunger earlier this year when they were neglected during the Israel-Hamas war.
The popular animals were too expensive to replace, so the keepers decided to design a pair of donkeys with black and white patterns instead.
Ahmad Barghouti says a professional painter used French-manufactured hair coloring to make the donkeys look like zebras.

Hunger, schmunger! The two original zebras were sent to southern Israel with explosives in their saddlebags.
Doesn’t this kind of sum up Hamas? They kidnap some poor zebras from Africa, take them to the Gaza Strip and put them in cages — and then starve them to death. A perfect metaphor for Islam at its finest.
*snicker*
Paging PETA, customer service needed on aisle Gaza.
If they had food to feed the donkeys, why didn’t they feed the Zebras?
They are just copying us. Afterall, we’ve got a jackass in the zoo that the WH is these days and he got painted up and groomed to seem like a real president and fool the masses.
Looks like they did a pretty good job. If I had never seen a zebra I would think this is the real thing.
A few years ago we had two small bushes in the backyard that were dying. I took a can of spray paint and painted them green. My wife commented that they had come back nicely. I just agreed with her. It was a year befoe my wife noticed what I had done. They lasted another two years before the leaves had all fallen off.
Mr. Green Thumb!!! I used to have a window box on my second-story bedroom window, but the squirrels or something would get in it and dig up the flowers. So I went to Michael’s and bought a lush arrangement of faux geraniums, stuck them in the window box and enjoyed the neighbors’ compliments for a couple of years (I took them in during the winter.) No one ever figured out they were fake. Tacky, I know, but strangely gratifying nevertheless,
You guys are a riot ... spray painting bushes and putting out plastic flowers?! I have a neighbor who puts out plastic flowers too. It took a while before I caught on. Good thinking bringing them in during the winter ... that’s where people get caught. My parents sometimes put out plastic flowers. Bright red poinsettias “growing” outside in the middle of winter are a dead give-away though! :)
Maybe the next time the bushes look unhealthy, I’ll just get out the spray paint, lol.
I do have my standards. ;)
They were fairly expensive silk ones with special dye so they could be placed outdoors without fading. If you are going to deceive, deceive as well as you can.
I see ... if you’re going to do it, do it right! If you’re confident enough, no one will second guess you.
LOL! My sister has the fakes for all seasons!
I wonder how much that costs and how many times I would get kicked? (as I sit here looking at Carlos the donkey, unknowingly grazing behind the house)
At the time they were accusing Israel of killing all the animals in the zoo.
