NYT: 32 Voices Louder Than Limbaugh’s (It's obvious that Rush is a hayseed racist)
The New York Times ^ | October 13, 2009 | GEORGE VECSEY

Posted on 10/13/2009 9:32:09 AM PDT by presidio9

The N.F.L. has a policy for just about everything. Tucking in shirts. Use of cellphones or felt pens in celebration of self. Smarting off at inappropriate moments. Wipe that smirk off your face, mister, you’re not in junior high school anymore. And that’s just for owners.

So it is no surprise that the N.F.L. also has a written policy governing the acceptance — and let us hope rejection — of potential owners. The current club owners seem to have the power to turn down somebody just because they don’t like the cut of his jib, whatever a jib is.

This is reassuring given the recent announcement by Rush Limbaugh, a chap who talks on the radio, that he is interested in buying into the St. Louis Rams. Limbaugh is seeking a partnership with Dave Checketts, who has hitherto amassed a good reputation in New York, Salt Lake City and St. Louis.

When observed recently, Limbaugh was braying with glee because the American city of Chicago had been turned down in its bid to host the 2016 Olympic Games. His vicious delight had nothing to do with the dubious economics of holding the Olympics or the mixed support from the citizens of Chicago. He depicted the decision as a defeat for President Obama, who had traveled to Copenhagen to stick up for his adopted home city.

This just in: occasionally, the St. Louis Rams play the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field. Presumably, Bears’ fans would remember Limbaugh’s double chins quivering with joy at the rejection of the Olympic bid. This is just the kind of divisive baggage the N.F.L. would love to see in a potential owner.

But Limbaugh comes with other weighty history. This is the bloke who,

Who is this “George” person? He seems quite dead headed.

It might be time for Rush to fulfill his dream of moving to New Zealand and leaving this country to it’s fate. I’ll be right behind him.

Great, an ideological purity test among owners.

That's OK. If the NFL doesn't want Limbaugh as an owner, they don't need me as a fan, either. Frankly, I'm growing weary of watching a bunch of thugs play the game, so this might be a good time for the NFL and I to part ways. Of course, it doesn't help that I'm a Bills fan, either :(

Since Chicagoans did not want the Olympics why should they care about Limbaugh's gloating?

I don’t know who this guy is, but his surname is Hungarian. He should be writing columns apologizing for the havoc his ancestors wrought in Europe (ca. 895 to 955), not attacking Limbaugh.

Vecsey has written the “Sports of the Times” column (along with Dave Anderson) for the NYT for the past 30 years. He is the older brother of Peter Vecsey, though he does not appear on TV nearly as much. He as written numerous books, both on sports and entertainment, including “Coal Miner’s Daughter,” with Loretta Lynn.

I posted this column, because it contains no useful information that pertains to sports, and therefore belongs on the newspaper’s opinion page, not the sports pages.

This guy hasn’t seen Rush lately. He’s fit as a fiddle, no double chins.

Rush can control his own world of talk radio, but when he steps out into the rest of the world, which is infested by liberal maggots, it’s a tough go.

I'm a Giants fan, but when the Rooneys in Pittsburgh endorsed Barak Hussein Obama (mmm... mmm... mmm...) I thought about giving up for good. But then the Giants ending up not missing Plaxico Burress nearly as much as liberals like Vecsey hoped, and I decided to give them one more chance.

Wow, George Vecsey is such a hate filled and bitter man, who obviously hates freedom of speech for those who disagree with him.

<"Limbaugh’s double chins quivering with joy..."

What's with the personal attacks on another human being's physical appearance? It's so low class and reveals a complete lack of intellectual heft. Plus, it's not like Mr. Vecsey looks like Brad Pitt or something...

"letting a virulent exhibitionist like Limbaugh into the club...

What the hell is this moron even talking about? A "virulent exhibitionist"?! Are there nude pictures of Limbaugh around out there? Or is this one of those code words pussy liberals use when they're too spineless to actually call somebody a racist when they can't prove it, but they just know it?

If it weren’t for white folks, the NFL would be broke. I have almost quit watching basketball because of the situation. Did you know that the NFL won’t take any referees that are not black or previous NFL players? Anyone coming from any other source is not used. There are many competent white referees/officials in the College ranks that won’t even be considered for the NFL because of the affirmative action of the NFL.

I don't think George should criticize other people for their "double chins."

What are you hiding, George? Do those walrus wrinkles around your cheeks extend to your chin, perhaps?

Sorry to be rude, but you started it.

Sorry about the Bills part!

Seriously, I have been a fan of the NFL for a long time and I gave up on the NBA back in the early 90's because it became infested with "me first" thugs and the games started looking like the WWF whereas "the fix is in".

Unfortunately, I am starting to get that feeling about the NFL also. What is probably generating the most interest right now is the whole Fantasy Football phenomenon. It seems the NFL hierarchy has their "golden child" franchises and the hell with the rest of them. I think if the public only knew what went on behind closed doors at the NFL executive level, we would all be SCREAMING for a RICO beat-down.
