PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL---Our news partners at the Sun Sentinel report:
U.S. Rep. Robert Wexler, who represents Broward and Palm Beach counties, plans to resign from Congress.
He plans to announce his plans at a news conference Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Boca Raton.
A Democratic source with knowledge of Wexler's plans said he is likely to take a public policy job that deals with the Middle East.
Wexler, a senior member of the House Foreign Relations Committee, has long been involved in issues involving Israel and Turkey.
GOOD RIDDANCE YOU NO GOOD TRAITOR!!!
Are we talking now or after his current term? I hope he’s giving his two weeks notice.
Good God, I needed some good news today! Mrs Wexluh’s Little Bobby out of the Peoples’ House. There must be a scandal about to break on him.
There is a God!
(anybody? anybody at all?)
Good news!
I had never heard of him until he served on the Judicial Committee during Clinton’s impeachment hearings.
My first opinion of him was, “he’slimy”. He’s done nothing since to change that opinion.
Pillow biter?
I remember this ‘Rat POS on the night of Election 2000, when he was mugging for the network cameras telling them that he actually had senior citizen voters coming up to him “crying in the parking lot” because they feared that they might have cast their vote for Pat Buchanan instead of Al Gore due to the allegedly infamous ‘butterfly ballot’ (the ballot that was approved by Republicans, Democrats AND Independents LONG before Election Day.
What has been almost tossed down the memory hole is that a telemarketing firm hired by the DNC began calling voters in Palm Beach County (among other counties) on Election night to ‘inform’ them that they may have cast their votes incorrectly and that they should return to their polling place and ‘demand’ a replacement ballot so their votes could ‘properly’ be counted.
What that gambit did was to gin up prospects in the minds of gullible seniors (and others) that their votes indeed might have been wasted, but what it also proved was that the ‘Rats had premeditation so far as arranging that scam, because you don’t set up telemarketing operations with scripts, staffing, etc., on a moment’s notice. That takes time, planning and $$ MONEY $$.
The ‘Rats intended to create chaos in Florida in a failed attempt to steal the State because they knew Al Ghoul was probably not going to prevail in the Electoral College.
Florida was their fraudulent ‘firewall’ and we all know the rest.
So *GOOD RIDDANCE* to Bob ‘Crying in the Parking Lot’ Wexler, he is a total scumbag.
LOL....I don’t think so...
Oh, good riddance is right! I remember when he raked Gen. Petraeus over the coals. I called Wexler’s D.C. office and gave them a ripping!
Yes, there is....and he was in Palm Beach County today!
Maybe he got caught playing footsie in a bathroom stall while taking a dump. I heard that gay men are turned on by that sort of thing. That’s just gross.
Yeah......everything that comes out of that guys mouth is a manipulative lie....he really disgusts me. This news makes my week!
Be careful unless you have a solid line on who his replacement will be.
It's not always greener...
Don't we ALL know by now!
Isn’t he the guy that had some tax problems a while back - something about claiming a residence in one state while living in another?
For those who don’t know him....he’s even more stupid than he looks.
Thanks for posting this wonderful news, Fawn! :)
I think you're right. He must be one of the congressmen who was thinking of filibustering or voting along with the GOP on the HCRB.
Alot of stuff is happening lately with Congress, being investigated, resigning. Hmmmm. This is politics Chicago style!
He didn’t even have a home in Florida, although he was elected to the House from Florida...........only one in the Washington area.
Yeah....he lived in Maryland but had a “residence” in Florida so he wouldn’t be subject to Maryland income taxes. No problem for a RAT, though....(Unbelieveably, not having a real residence in Florida is not an issue with respect to representing a Florida congressional district.)
Damnit... Maryland loses another member of Congress. :)
This is excellent news at the beginning of this week.
Wexler is an arrogant politician, coupled with some additional traits that make him almost but not quite laughable: shrillness & stupidity. The only reasonable he is not laughable because he is currently a congressman.
Hmmm... that could have been him... or any other Congressional Democrat.
I think you are right. I heard Rush talk about it. This guy represents Rush’s district.
“Good RIDDANCE TO THIS SLIMEBALL.”
AMEN!
I can’t feature him voting with the GOPers on anything. He is a hard core leftisit, but not ideologically...just opportunistically.
Maybe there was more to this story than we were told:
07/31/09 01:31 PM
BOCA RATON, Fla. “The U.S. Secret Service says a man is being held in the West African nation of Ghana after attempting to extort money from U.S. Rep. Robert Wexler.
The Florida Democrat called authorities several weeks ago after he was contacted by a suspect who had Social Security numbers for him and his wife. Wexler told authorities the man attempted to extort money from him and threatened to turn over the personal information to identity thieves.
Secret Service spokesman Ed Donovan says the man was arrested July 15 in Ghana and remained in custody Friday.
Since the man’s arrest, several attempts have been made to open credit accounts with Wexler’s personal information. Wexler’s attorney says the investigation is ongoing and his office says he doesn’t know how the man got his information.”
Hmmmmmmm........
That is more proof that most people in the USA are simply too stupid to vote.
Right, which is odd b/c of the clear tax advantage it is to be a Florida resident.
A largely elderly Jewish population is going to vote for “my son, the politician.” He charmed the Depends off the bluehairs.
Not suprisingly, that’s the photo Wikipedia uses in the entry for “dork.”
What you said.
I pity Israel.
Worthless old people. I pay enough in taxes that go straight into their pockets.
Good....i wish identity theft on him too.
He looks like Al Bundy with a tie.
Wexler also had a very strange event in the past few months.Strange in that it happened while Obama was in Ghana and the Secret Service got involved. Very curious that now he is ‘resigning’.

The Sun Sentential reports Florida Congressman Robert Wexler Targeted in Identity Theft Extortion
Extortionist from Ghana threatened to turn over congressmans Social Security number to thieves. Other members of Congress also said to be targeted.
The alleged extortionist has been arrested and remains in custody in Ghana.
Wexler, D-Boca Raton, refused reported the plot to the Secret Service and Capitol Police.
His attorney Pamela J. Marple, issued a statement:
Congressman Wexler greatly appreciates the professionalism and ongoing assistance of the United States Secret Service and Capitol Police regarding a matter where he was targeted as a member of Congress and was the victim of crime involving extortion and attempted identity theft. This remains an ongoing legal matter that will be closely monitored.
The Ghanaian telephoned Wexler this month while President Barack Obama was visiting Ghana, guarded by Secret Service agents. Wexler reported the matter to the Secret Service while they were in the country, which helped the investigation.”
Wexler to leave Congress for public policy job, Democratic sources say
by George Bennett | October 13th, 2009
Wexler U.S. Rep. Robert Wexler, D-Boca Raton, will resign from Congress to take a public policy position, several Democratic sources said today.
He called. He is going to resign .He told me that he is moving on. Beyond that, I dont have any any answers, said state Sen. Jeremy Ring, D-Coral Springs. Ring said he is considering running in the special election to replace Wexler.
Another Wexler confidant, Palm Beach County Commissioner Burt Aaronson, said he talked to Wexler this afternoon and Wexler said he had to do what he had to do for his family. Wexler didnt specifically say he would resign, Aaronson said, but by putting two and two together he concluded Wexler is leaving office.
Another Democratic insider said Wexler is considering a position related to Middle East policy. It wasnt immediately clear if the post was inside or outside government.
Wexlers office would not comment, but said the seven-term congressman would discuss his future plans with reporters Wednesday morning in Boca Raton.
If Wexler leaves before the end of his term, a special election would fill his overwhelmingly Democratic Palm Beach-Broward seat. In addition to Ring, potential candidates to replace Wexler include state Sen. Ted Deutch, D-Boca Raton, West Palm Beach Mayor Lois Frankel and former Broward County Commissioner Ben Graber.
I spoke to Congressman Wexler today but Congressman Wexlers been a leader of our community for 20 years and I think we deserve to let him speak for himself tomorrow, Deutch said.
Wexler was a key early supporter of Barack Obamas presidential campaign, endorsing Obama in early 2007 when most of the Florida Democratic establishment backed Hillary Clinton for president. From the moment Obama was elected, rumors swirled that Wexler might be in line for an appointment in the Obama administration.
Wexler downplayed such talk in November, saying he wasnt interested in leaving Congress.
I have a dream job. A job I love. I could not be happier. And I am not looking for any change in that regard, Wexler said at the time.
Self-described fire-breathing liberal Wexler was elected in 1996 and has not faced a serious reelection challenge since. Even last year, after his residency became an issue Wexler lives with his family in Maryland and was using his in-laws address to establish Florida residency Wexler won a seventh term with 66.2 percent.
