FOLLOW THE MONEY Gov Charlie Crist is closely connected to Alan Mendelsohn, a Hollywood, Florida eye doctor and big time Crist funder......he was on Crist’s gubernatorial transition team, and is a close friend.
HOWBATDAT? Authorities recently arrested Mendelsohn and several others in a corruption probe. Crist is calling for a statewide grand jury investigation of government corruption to distance himself from Mendelsohn’s taint.
U.S. Robert Wexler is becoming president of the Center for Middle East Peace & Economic Cooperation, a non-partisan organization devoted to a peaceful resolution of the Arab-Israeli conflict.
Its activities include diplomatic exchanges, opinion research, policy development, and conferences featuring world leaders.
For example, Wexler said, the Palestinian president recently outlined a two-year plan for creating institutions for health care, education and transportation. The center would help.
“I will be raising the profile. I will be invigorating it ... to be a remarkably relevant place in Washington,” he said.
