LOS ANGELES -- Legendary former UCLA men's basketball coach John Wooden is celebrating his 99th birthday today with the release of a new book that he co-wrote.
Wooden coached the Bruins to an unprecedented 10 NCAA championships in his final 12 seasons, including a record seven in a row from 1967 to 1973.
...In addition to his championships and 620-147 record as UCLA's coach from 1948 to 1975, Wooden was acclaimed for the values he espoused. He had three rules for his players -- don't use profanity, be on time and never criticize a teammate.

Yep.
Wooden’s books do not just provide advice on how to coach young men, but on how to live your life and raise your children. I bought his little blue book years ago and use the morality and lessons from there with my own kids.
All the Tom H kids know the following, from the time they are dandled on my knee:
1) Don’t lie, don’t cheat, don’t steal.
2) Don’t whine, complain, make excuses, or blame someone else.
You’d be surprised how empowering these have been for me as a father, and how well most problems can be reduced with this homespun wisdom.
To wit: I’ll be asked to get involved in some simple dispute. Invariably, one or both of the kids version will fall in one of the above categories. I merely repeat them, give the youth a stern fatherly stare, and ask them what they need to do.
I strongly recommend several of Wooden’s books to everyone at FR.
Exactly - Coach Wooden’s “Pyramid For Success” is a fine tool in how to live your life and raise your children.
Hearing that, Walton immediately cut his hair and shaved.
I'd bet a few shekels he's not a Barry 0 fan.
