I miss the smell of burning leaves in the fall.....
Hmmm ... you may have never had lived in a area where those acrid smog generators called burning leaf piles produced a thick eye-stinging haze that lasts from dusk until morning, and leaves all coughing and red-eyed. I remember eating one Thanksgiving meal in that haze. That bitter smog permeates everywhere in the multi-day thermal inversions of the Fall, by that meal it had been three days of constant haze.
Nothing tasted good, smoke was the only flavor.
