and why is it that the real conservative candidates get NO support?

Because the RNC is supporting the only Republican in the race. It is called the "Republican Party" you know.

Dede Scozzafava is another RINO

This is a general election where the Republicans are supporting the Republican that is in the race against a Democrat.

If you don't like the choice, go out and run a real conservative in the primaries and win. Otherwise, shut up or go form a third party. Whining is for losers and more and more the nutcases on FR are all about whining and losing at the same time.

They gave ZERO support to Chicago Lady.

Well Chicago Lady got zero support because her chances of winning were also zero.

I’m not sure I understand your comment, but just to be clear, I would love for all the conservatives and Republicans to work together to save our republic. Just saying. There is a competitive spirit at work, as in New York where there is always a battle for ballot status in a gubernatorial year.

I think the problem with the RNC is that they only care about winning seats.

I think the problem with you and your fellow FR nutcases is that you only care about whining and losing.

Why are there so many people here who want to shoot themselves in the foot?

Maybe it feels good ? It is not my cup of tea, but I'm not a masochist either.

This is the reason they are called the Stupid Party. The pissed away nearly a decade with a congressional majority in the House and Senate, with several years under a Republican president

Actually, the GOP had 4 years with a majority in the house and senate and a republican president (2003-2007) and never had anywhere close to 60 in the senate. The rest of the time we had Clinton as prez, or Jeffords jumping to give the dems a 51 majority or the wipeout of Nov 2006.

It’s just too bad that so many Republicans don’t want to save our true Republic.

---------------------------------------------------------

You are wrong on several levels. First, there was no primary. The RINO was picked by Republican bigwigs, not voters. Second, New York already has a third party--the Conservative Party--so there's no need to form one.

I do concur with you about whining. However, unlike you, I don't see anti-RINO conservatives as "nutcases."

I vote for the most conservative candidate in the Republican primary. Even if my candidate loses the primary, I will still vote for the Republican nominee--provided they at least meet a minimum threshold of conservative principles. That rules out folks like Rudy, Romney, and the pre-Palin McCain. Here in CA, I did not vote for Arnold's re-election.

In the NY special election, the selected (not elected) Republican nominee fails to meet the minimum conservative threshold. The Conservative Party candidate is within striking range and deserves support from conservatives.

Having another RINO Republican in Congress who will consistently support 0bama's agenda does not advance the conservative case. In fact, it will harm it, as the DemomRats can claim to have "bipartisan" support as the RINO votes with them.

The problem occurred long before this transfer of funds. The die is cast. The Republican candidate is a RINO. The furor raised by this thread should have happened during the nomination process.

She was selected by ignorant local party bosses (no primary), people did complain, a deaf ear was turned.

I'm disappointed to see Newt Gingrich endorse this RINO. Even more so to see freepers shill for her.

In case you didn't know she's not a moderate and she's not a Republican. Hoffman is the only Republican in the race. The democrats tried to get her to run for them. She's an extreme social liberal (to the left of the country not just to the left of the GOP) her husband is a union bigwig and she's been backed in the past by the Acorn-supported Working Families Party. Sounds like a democrat to me. I'm okay with moderates being in the party. A moderate Republican can be about 60% conservative (think Norm Coleman). The NY Conservative party says Dede was 15% conservative last year (several rats in the leg did better). She's pro-gun (so are area rats), that's about all she seems to agree with Republicans on. She is not a member in good standing of the Republican party with her views.

I'd bet if it's ever 217-217 and her that she'll vote Pelosi for Speaker. She is Jim Jeffords in frumpy skirt.

So what's to do? A Republican was nominated on the Conservative party line. If the NRSC had sense it would back him. Dede Scuzzobama will win votes that otherwise would go to the rat thus A 3-way race here is winnable. Keep in mind this is not a NYC district. It's a historically GOP seat that has been evenly divided in recent POTUS elections. The race would be infinitely more winnable if the NRCC wasn't throwing money at that (LITERAL) RINO slag Dede Scuzzobama.

If the regular rat wins due to GOP party and GOP voter ignorance in letting Working Family's Party socialist Scuzzobama steal votes from the Republican Hoffman , so be it. It will be embarrassing and set off stupid MSM articles about a "GOP split" but we get a do over in November 2010 (after a PRIMARY). If Dede wins the NRCC will foolishly back her to the hilt in 2010 wasting money on her and we could be stuck with her for years.

Is the rat "more conservative" than her? I wouldn't say so. He's claiming to be a "blue dog" that means a BSing liberal who talks like a centrist. But is he measurably worse? Doubtful. At least he's openly a democrat rather than a mole in the GOP who will steal GOP votes and GOP funds and take up GOP committee seats in the house.

The choice is clear, the Republican Conservative Hoffman, not the female Vito Marcantonio (look him up, would you have voted for him?) Dede Scuzzobama.

NYS GOP is an acronymic oxymoron.

Forget a third party.

We need a SECOND one.

A very apt comparison I forgot to make is the case NY Senator James Buckley. Elected in 1970 as a Conservative over the super-liberal Republican and the democrat. Since the “die was cast” in that race I guess conservative voters should’ve just voted for the Republican incumbent who voted identically like liberal democrat huh.

That was a mistake. The military ballot suppressor (2000 Florida) and partial-birth abortion enthusiast Joe Liarman didn’t deserve 1 Republican vote and certainly not 1 Republican dollar that could have gone to George Allen, Jim Talent or Conrad Burns instead. If the CT GOP was smart they would have found a non-joke candidate that could have won a three-way race.

Liarman was not significantly to the right of Lamont. He makes even CT RINOs like Rob Simmons look conservative in comparison.

The NY-23 episode is a disgrace. The GOP establishment still hasn’t learned anything. If the GOP loses the NY-23 and the Jersey Governor race, then wealthy Obama donors just might donate generous amounts to conservative leaning 3rd parties to split the vote for 2010.

Please note the Conley, a Ron Paul Democrat, got very little support among conservatives in his campaign against Graham. Now (one year too late) many of these same folks complain about Graham. Where were they last year? Wasting their votes for McCain I suppose.

Support the Club For Growth who support conservative candidates. An additional plus, they are very effective.

Dede Scozzafava is an uber-RINO running in a fairly conservative district. She’s not running in Manhattan or Evanston. It’s rare that I oppose a Republican in the general election, but this is one case where I do. Doug Hoffman is a viable candidate and he deserves full conservative and Republican support.

Just wait.

The usual suspects will stupidly and short-sightedly claim that re-electing McCain next year is better than electing a liberal Democrat.

McCain MUST be defeated at all costs. ALL COSTS.
