That’s Jim making a case for what he believes. I don’t see where he said “Free Republic Endorses Huckabee”. It is his site, yes, but I think if he wanted to make an endorsement clear, he would have. It is his site, but this site is also a community and I really don’ think, especially now, that you would have a majority of this community supporting Huck.

Also, in context, during the primaries, (as in the general) you support who you see is the best “on balance”- which doesn’t always mean they align 100% with your principles.

A lot of us supported McCain because on balance compared to Obama.. well, you know..

“Free Republic officially endorsed Huckabee?“

Number seven, if we can keep Huckabee in the race all the way through, thus preventing McCain or Romney from gaining enough delegates to win the nomination, then maybe, just maybe a deadlocked convention might seek out another candidate. One who can re-unite the Reagan Coalition, save the GOP, and put us back on the conservative track. Of course, my personal favorite to be that man would be FRed Thompson.
Do you get it now? - He didn't want Huck, he just didn't want McCain nor Romney.

From that thread:

Vote for this guy so we can get Fred Thompson to the White House...my, that's a ringing endorsement. Did you also think Rush Limbaugh was really trying to get Hillary Clinton elected?
