Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin’s forthcoming autobiography has been at the top of the Amazon book charts for weeks, and it hasn’t even been released yet. At least in the eyes of the political Left, she is now perhaps America’s most visible national Republican.
But new Rasmussen Reports national telephone surveying finds Palin losing handily in face-to-face march-ups with her two likeliest challengers for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination.
Among likely Republican primary voters, Palin now trails former Arkansas governor-turned-Fox-TV-host Mike Huckabee by 20 points – 55% to 35%.
When her opponent is ex-Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, Palin loses by 15 – 52% to 37%.

When given a list of five candidates and asked who they would vote for in 2012, 29% of Republican voters nationwide say Huckabee, while 24% prefer Romney and 18% Palin.
In July, it was close to a three-way tie: 25% said Romney, 24% Palin and 22% Huckabee.
It’s noteworthy that Huckabee’s gains since July are matched almost precisely by Palin’s decline. That suggests a large pool of voters are committed to choosing between two candidates routinely dismissed as unacceptable in the eyes of Republicans in Washington, DC. At the moment, 47% prefer either Huckabee or Palin while 42% prefer a candidate more acceptable to Republican political leaders. That divide is also reflected, with similar results, in a Huckabee-Romney head to head match-up.
Twenty-one percent (21%) of primary voters also say Palin is the GOP candidate they would least like to see win the party’s presidential nomination. Just nine percent (9%) say the same of Romney, and eight percent (8%) feel that way about Huckabee.
Support for Huckabee and Romney against Palin is nearly the same among both men and women. Suggesting that Romney’s Mormon faith may still be a problem among some Christian conservatives, Palin leads him by 14 points – 52% to 38% - among GOP primary voters who describe themselves as Evangelical Christians. But Romney beats Palin by 26 points among other Protestants – 58% to 32% - and holds similar winning margins among Catholic voters and those of other faiths.
On the other hand, Huckabee, an ordained Southern Baptist minister, beats Palin by 17 points among Evangelical Christians and 29 points among other Protestants. A similar spread is evident among Republican voters of other faiths, but Huckabee has just an eight-point edge over Palin among Catholic voters.
Earlier polling showed that Palin trails Hillary Clinton in a general election match-up.
In early July, 40% of Republican voters nationwide said Palin’s decision to resign as governor of Alaska hurt her chances of winning the party’s presidential nomination in 2012.

The problem is there is not so much evidence. She was picked by McCain and supported most of his RINO views including the bailout and gave really fuzzy responses on amnesty. You don’t do that if you are a real conservative.
I don’t think resigning was a conservative thing...she just doesn’t know how to defend herself against the media.
The problem is many conservatives don't want to do the hard work necessary to promote their ideals. They think just by showing up at Tea Party rallies and waving signs for the cameras are enough.
Effectively promoting your candidate of choice involves giving up your weekends to knock on doors, drop campaign junk mail at homes, and make lots of phone calls. If supporters don't do these mundane tasks, then their candidate of choice will lose. Just ask Fred Thompson and Creigh Deeds.

And I suppose you are without sin yourself. There has been only one who hasn’t sinned. Get your Bible back out and read it sometime. Or are you as hopeless as you sound?
He may have deserved suspension, but it won’t make the difficulties go away, and it won’t fix the problem Palin has with independents.
It’s always fun to shoot the messenger, especially when they are annoying, but the message remains. Work the problem.
Online polls are not scientific or representative of the general population or Republicans as a voting group. They can be easily manipulated and they tend to skew towards anyone with a very devoted base.
Nevertheless, while the Rass poll is valid, it does not tell us who is going to be ahead even in a year's time, let alone by 2012. Ras and all other pollsters had Hilary and Giuliani far ahead of anyone else in 2007, with a year to go to the 2008 primaries, and they both lost.
Good catch on that loser’s troll prior comment about FB being a starting point for a National grassroots campaign.
Just to be clear, the poster deserved to be suspended for his rediculous comments. That doesn’t solve the real problem though, just gets rid of the annoying poster.

she’d be as pro-Israel as Bush. And while he was very pro-Israel...he just didn’t get it. He was the first president to call for a palestinian state. Palin said a 2 state solution is the solution. I don’t think so!
Huckabee will destroy Christianity, plain and simple. Its bad enough he's already shoving the socialist crap down our throats, but him as the nominee will mainstream his brand of Christianity, which is exactly that- a brand.
Its one thing to take down this country. But its another thing entirely to destroy Christianity.
And I will do everything I can to prevent both from happening, which means exposing that charlatan named Huckabee.
ironic since FR actually endorsed Huckabee during the primaries. But there weren’t any other options at the time.
There are those here on FR who are looking for the perfect candidate. And I mean agreeing with them 100% on everything. There are those who are single issue voters, which includes voting for someone who is an (alleged) evangelical.
You know what? That isn't any different than voting for someone because they're black. Or a woman. Or a Mormon.
The reality is there isn't a perfect candidate. No one should ever agree 100% with an politician.
As for Palin vs. Huck vs. Romney, actions speak louder than words. And when I compare all three, the one that stands out to being the closest to my political, spiritual, and over all philosophical beliefs is Sarah Palin.
Huckabee and Romney's records speak for themselves. Both had the chance to adhere to conservative principles.
And both failed miserable.
It wasn't the media that was the problem, it was people like Kim Chatman and Linda Kellen Biegel who were tying up the State's legislature and courts in frivolous complaints that all were thrown out. They cost the State millions in their political games and most of Palin's day was spent responding and dealing with that.
I won’t go that far, some folks are zealots for whatever reason.
Huck and Mitt aren’t the guys for the R nomination if you don’t want more moderate crap.
Both just don’t get it on a host of issues, and then try to pretend they are something they are not in front of the cameras.
I have far more respect for someone I don’t agree with who is honest about where they stand than the slimeballs like Fauxbama, Mitt and Huck.
I don’t think Palin is faking it when I see her in a photo with a shotgun or a Harley. I know damned well all the others are.
Mitt couldn’t buy his way into the full nomination process last time, yet he’s the guy? I don’t think so, without him pumping his own cash to keep himself afloat he was road kill way early on. Huck, too just isn’t there.
If these guys are the best the R party can offer, the country as we know it is done.

He might be nothing more than a troll and is trying to pretend to be a Christian using liberal stereotypes.
There was a very disturbing subset of Christians who had real problems with Sarah Palin. One of their prominent leaders had a public diatribe mocking Sarah Palin's Christianity because her daughter sinned. Although I'm not sure this speaker personally said this, he is involved with several who have said that it is a sin for a Christian to vote for a woman as a leader. The minute I heard his diatribe, I assumed that the speaker's real issue with Palin was the fact that she was a woman. So, it is possible that DanZanRyu is one of these patriarchial true believers, although in my experience most of them are Baldwin or Paul supporters.
You’re wrong, and Soros has nothing to do with it. 77% of Daggett’s supporters say they could change their minds. Chris has by far the highest % of voters who say their minds are made up, he leads Corzine head - to - head with those who are absolutely certain to vote by 49% to 41%. Also, Daggett only secured the third spot on the ballot in 2 counties in all of NJ, and from Rasmussen:

But just 32% of voters statewide are able to correctly identify Daggett as the candidate endorsed by the paper. Eighteen percent (18%) think Corzine got the nod, eight percent (8%) say Christie, and a plurality of 42% has no idea. Among voters who could still change their mind, just 28% know Daggett won the endorsement.”
