  • Why Bernie Sanders would be an exccellent president [ZOT! Feel the bern]

Bernie Sanders offers a real solution that the current condidates wont have. Bernie Sanders would first of all return tax levels to the way they were in the 1950s, tax the rich 90% and use the massive massive massive surplus from that tax to create jobs for the unemployed. One trillion should be paid for rebuilding infrastructure and bridges and creating jobs. Another trillion will be used to create new healthcare opertunety for workers to earn doctors degrees and to heal the sick and poor. Bernie sanders will also create government funded industries and factories that will create paying jobs...

It if walks like a duck and quacks like a duck - it is a duck. If Donald Trump was running for president on the Democratic ticket, would you vote for him? Of course you would. Is it becoming more and more difficult to make excuses for Donald Trump? Did you know that Scott Walker is a loser because he did not raise taxes to balance his budget? Do any of you Trump supporters know what the federal deficit is? There is not enough taxpayer money in America to pay that off. Did you know that women should be prosecuted...

Recently, Tom Scholl, who identified himself as a pastor of churches in Ohio and New York, as well as holding positions in several ecumenical organizations, wrote a 3-part article for my local newspaper, The Macon Telegraph, entitled -What the Koran says about Christianity.- I thought it would be an interesting series to read, but I was greatly disappointed and not a little irked. It could have been an apologia about the goodness of Islam, using selective passages from The Koran and being charitable to some elements of Christianity. But his apologia went further than the usual arguments and Koranic exhortations...
  • The utter nastiness of Ted Cruz (and the utter ZOT-ness of the moron who posted this)

When Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) last month mocked Donald Trump‘s "New York values," it wasn‘t entirely clear what he was implying. This week we got a clue: For Cruz, "New York" is another way of saying "Jewish." At an event in New Hampshire, Cruz, the Republican Iowa caucuses winner, was asked about campaign money he and his wife borrowed from Goldman Sachs. Cruz, asserting that Trump had "upward of $480 million of loans from giant Wall Street banks," said: "For him to make this attack, to use a New York term, it‘s the height of chutzpah." Cruz, pausing for laughter...

It is difficult to define a whole school of political ideology precisely, but one may reasonably define liberalism (as opposed to conservatism) in the contemporary United States as the genuine concern for the welfare of genetically unrelated others and the willingness to contribute larger proportions of private resources for the welfare of such others. In the modern political and economic context, this willingness usually translates into paying higher proportions of individual incomes in taxes toward the government and its social welfare programs. Liberals usually support such social welfare programs and higher taxes to finance them, and conservatives usually oppose them....

On the rare occasion I find myself in agreement with President Obama, I get nervous. It just feels like a setup. Like someone's going to pull the rug out from under me at any moment. But right now, I have to admit, I was very pleased to hear the news that the U.S. and Cuba are moving to normalize relations.

When I saw this commercial, I honestly thought perhaps the Army is now making ads specifically targeting homosexuals. (We all know that it's just a matter of time.) I'm definitely ---not--- saying that graphic artists are all homosexuals. However...

Throughout history, religion has sanctioned and fueled the persecution of homosexuality. That dynamic may be drawing to an end. Polls, clerics, and denominations are shifting. Theology is adapting. Resistance to same-sex marriage is dwindling, and there’s no end in sight. For 15 years, the Ethics and Public Policy Center has hosted the Faith Angle Forum, a regular conference on religion and public life. Several weeks ago, the group met again to discuss current issues. Transcripts of the conference have just been posted on EPPC’s website. They underscore the extent of the anti-gay collapse. The first session, led by papal biographer...
  • Mandate Debate: Why I Cannot Support Hobby Lobby’s “Religious Freedom” Claim

By Jason Hines - Yesterday the Supreme Court decided to hear two cases regarding the contraception mandate in the Affordable Care Act. The interesting aspect of these cases is that the companies involved (Hobby Lobby being the more famous of the two) are for profit companies whose owners are committed Christians who believe that certain forms of contraception covered by the mandate are against their religious beliefs and that they should not be paying to provide them for their customers. I think now is as good a time as any to point out the hypocrisy in the fact that Hobby...

Investigators will be sorting through the detail reports and come up with a plan to prevent future incidents. This won’t be the first time for lawmakers and defense leaders to go over base security protocols, terror threat information and personnel background check procedures.</p>

In December 2012, the Red Cross and an affiliated organization known as the Water Reference Center (WRC) performed a medical field test in the African country of Uganda. The test was to determine if a popular “Miracle Cure” had any impact on malaria, a disease that is estimated to kill one child every minute in Africa alone. To the surprise of the Red Cross and their staff, it cured all 154 malaria patients that took part in the test―with no side effects.

The NRA and other gun lovers use the Second Amendment as proof of their right to bear arms. The Second Amendment is outdated and is of no use in today's society. In fact, the Second Amendment was written as a right to bear arms for colonists to protect themselves against other colonists, Indians and to form a militia in case the British invaded farms and other private lands. To use it today as a law is very silly. If that is all the NRA and their followers have to justify their use of guns, then they will soon lose the...
  • Like William Buckley, I believe adult use of some drugs should be decriminalized. What say you? Zot!

My thought is certain recreational drugs, such as marijuana, should remain off legal limits for the under 18 year olds, but become legally available when used in the proper environment. In many ways, pot is quite similar to alcohol, in that they should be used responsibly. My thought is to make the sale of marijuana less profitable by making it legal for home use. Personally, I don't smoke anything now, and do not want the smell of tobacco or pot on my clothes should I visit a public place, such as a shopping mall or bus stop. I know this...

My choice for President is Mitt Romney. I just shuddered at that statement. But there it is. There is the reality that 13 debates, months of bickering and intrigue, and countless discussions with conservative brethren have brought me. It is kind of a sad reality. Is this the best conservatives could do? So here has been my calculation for who I would support, from the beginning. First, the candidate must be electable and able to defeat Barack Obama, both electorally and intellectually. Second, they must broaden the base of the Republican Party, both on the conservative and moderate sides. Third,...

What do we think of this? I'm not talking about any bannings and whether they were justified or not. What I mean is, showing FR in a negative light like this. It doesn't show us as open minded and most people equate banning to censorship. And well, that doesn't exactly jive with the Constitution and the Bill of Rights we hold so dear. Jim can do what he wants. He owns the site. I moderate a website that my friend owns and it's the same tact we take with trolls and spammers. But we never ban people for simply taking...

The large Republican presidential field, along with the dramatic surges and collapses of several of its candidates, may ultimately be much ado about nothing. That, at least, is the conclusion of the Republican strategists surveyed in this week's National Journal Political Insiders Poll, who almost unanimously identified Mitt Romney as the most likely candidate to win the nomination. In the five times the GOP Insiders have been asked that question in 2011, Romney has never surrendered the top spot.
