White House Escalates War on Fox News
Fox News ^ | 10/19/2009

The White House escalated its offensive against Fox News on Sunday by urging other news organizations to stop "following Fox" and instead join the administration's attempt to marginalize the channel.

White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel told CNN that President Obama does not want "the CNNs and the others in the world [to] basically be led in following Fox."

Obama senior adviser David Axelrod went further by calling on media outlets to join the administration in declaring that Fox is "not a news organization."

"Other news organizations like yours ought not to treat them that way," Axelrod counseled ABC's George Stephanopoulos. "We're not going to treat them that way."

By urging other news outlets to side with the administration, Obama aides officials dramatically upped the ante in the war of words that began earlier this month, when White House communications director Anita Dunn branded Fox "opinion journalism masquerading as news."

(snip)

Media columnist David Carr of the New York Times warned that the White House war on Fox "may present a genuine problem for Mr. Obama, who took great pains during the campaign to depict himself as being above the fray of over-heated partisan squabbling."

"While there is undoubtedly a visceral thrill in finally setting out after your antagonists, the history of administrations that have successfully taken on the media and won is shorter than this sentence," Carr wrote over the weekend. "So far, the only winner in this latest dispute seems to be Fox News. Ratings are up 20 percent this year."

He added: "The administration, by deploying official resources against a troublesome media organization, seems to have brought a knife to a gunfight."

99% of the media outlets in the country are completely objective and unbiased, and agree with Obama on all issues, all the time.

Unfortunately, 1% of the media outlets agrees with Obama only some of the time.

This cannot be tolerated.

ARF
what charity is she doing, well I should say what has she done besides having some kids from a DC school come to the white house garden.

Has she gone anywhere over night by herself working yet?

An anti-American administration built on fraud and lies cannot stand the scrutiny and the resulting truth. It must create demons to keep the focus off of itself.

Should we start a pool on how long it will be before the White House moves to formally shut down FNC via some FCC machinations?

Clearly this totalitarian regime has declared war on truthful the reporting of actual facts, which is necessary to further their propaganda.

They can’t move to clamp down and disarm us so long as news organizations like Fox exists. The internet is also a big problem, and we’ve already seen them making moves in this area too.

Does anyone NOT see the handwriting on the wall?

Believe it or not, I saw a NY Slimes editorial coming in favor of Fox. As well as the Telegraph, NY magazine, etc.

Which actually surprised me a LOT.

I believe the Obama administration's engaging in this type of effort is inherently anti-Constitutional, government censorship. As BHO is thereby violating his oath to uphold the Constitution by such subversion, I understand his actions to be impeachable high crimes and/or misdemeanors.

Furthermore, these attempts by Congress to vote through their current "healthcare" shenanigans, explicitly hidden from public view, shows every member voting for such legislation not to be worthy of their office. They should be removed at the next election cycle if not legally done sooner.

The more they scream, the more attention Fox will get, so let them scream while more listeners/watchers keep tuning into Fox.

Agreed...there was a time when all news organizations would defend Free Speech. Now the majority are literally propaganda wings of the Democrat party.
