Veteran White House reporter Helen Thomas on Monday advised the Obama administration to stand down and avoid fighting with Fox News and its correspondents.
In an interview with MSNBC, the columnist -- who is promoting her new book on presidents and their campaigns -- also stressed the White House ought to "stay out of these fights."
"They can only take you down. You can't kill the messenger," said Thomas, who has covered every president from John F. Kennedy to Barack Obama.
Whether the White House takes her advice, however, is another story. Just this weekend, Senior Adviser David Axelrod charged Fox was "not really a news organization." And Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel twice insinuated the channel was a danger to the craft of journalism itself.
Its not a news organization so much as it has a perspective, and thats a different take," Emanuel told CNN's "State of the Union," a line he echoed in principle on CBS later in the day. "And more importantly, its important not to have the CNNs and the others of the world being led and following Fox, as if what theyre trying to do is a legitimate news organization."
Keep going Barry!
Wow!
Maybe the WH is spending time trying to decide to send more troops into the breach with Fox and doesn’t have time to make a decision on Afghanistan.

Good for her. Maybe it will sink in what they’re trying to do. It’s only going to come back to bite them in the azz.

All the OTHER media are good boys and girls because they don’t bring up anything nasty about the Obama Administration like that BAD Fox.
Aren’t CNNABCNBCCBSMSNBC all good little drones?
*Nod heads in unison, children.
**The only GOOD media is STATE media.

Don’t count on her opinion to go very far. Yes, she’s been to the rodeo for a long time - but it doesn’t seem that that mega dork Gibbs or Obama or anyone else in the WH gives a crap about what anybody with any common sense says.
ugh!
We have to infiltrate.
ARG, my eyes!
Series-ly, I’m glad Helen is standing up to Zero’s administration even in this small way. Good for her. She complained about the control they are having over press conferences earlier this year. Keep squawking Helen!

“Nixon didn?t try to do that,” Thomas said. “They couldn’t control (the media). They didn’t try. ?What the hell do they think we are, puppets’” Thomas said. “They’re supposed to stay out of our business. They are our public servants. We pay them.”
I am speechless

Only Obama could initiate his own Operation Chaos, aimed at himself! Reminds me of those guns with the U-shaped barrel!
BRAAACKK!
Poly hates crackers!
Ol’ Helen’s been making a remarkable amount of sense lately...
Man, if BO has Helen Thomas warning him off things have indeed soured for the Hopey Changy crew in the WH.
I think the rest of the media are beginning to realize that this isn’t just about Fox. It’s about the Obama adminstration and Rahm Emanual firing a warning shot against the bow of any network that would dare to criticize them.
Remember a week ago Scarborough was making fun of Obama’s Nobel Peace Prize? Well, Rahm immediately sent an email to MSNBC telling them to “tell Joe to quit being a a**hole”. To me, that was a veiled threat saying “you are being too criticial and if you continue, we will cut off your access”.
I remember an article a few months ago that said that Rahm regularly takes reporters to dinner to wine and dine them. I’ll bet he never takes out Major Garrett or Wendall Goler from Fox.
That's soooo racist. Blacks call whitey "crackers." Of course they call us worse names too. LOL
Let’s hope Helen isn’t the next WH Press Corp member to come down with Swine Flu.
